This month we have been celebrating fibre arts as art forms in their own right. Our walls may be lined with yarn instead of paint, but creativity lives here all the same. Come wander the gallery, admire the craftsmanship, and maybe leave inspired to make something of your own. We actually encourage you to touch the art!

We’re going to use the term “spring” loosely, yarn slingers are the same as the general population: we finish sweaters in June and summer tops in late August just like the rest of you. Are you a crafty artist? This year's one day art-n-go seek event is a few weeks away and you still have time to make art to share with your community!

Game of Shrooms is an annual one-day mushroom-themed art event happening on June 13th, 2026. On that day, artists from all over the world hide their original mushroom-themed artworks in public places then give hints (often on social media) for others to find AND KEEP this art! Any crafter artist can join with original (non-AI) work and spread the love of art for free throughout their community for this one day.

This is my fourth year participating and this year I went with needle punched designs. There will be five art pieces of various size hidden around the Renfrew Ravine (some pictured above, and these can be seen in our store window until the day of the event) and I will post hints for each in real time as they are hidden in my Instagram Stories on the day! In past years I have knit some, needle-felted, and with my kids we made air dried woodland sculptures. We have found artwork made of stain glass, pen & ink, pottery, blown glass, silkscreen, and other fibre arts such as cross stitch and free hand embroidery. What would be YOUR medium of choice?

As soon as we saw Canadian icon, Ryan Gosling wearing this sweater in Hail Mary, we knew we had to make it. Alison took on the challenge and recreated the sweater in 100% wool by designing a brand new fox chart, calculating the yarn requirements, sourcing the perfect wool (Cascade Eco+ held double) and knitting up this incredible sample you can now see in-store!
