Attendance should be the outcome of a positive workplace experience, not the objective itself.
 
Simply requiring employees to be present in the office does not guarantee stronger teamwork, innovation, knowledge sharing or better business performance.
 
Employees are not necessarily resisting the office itself. They may be resisting office attendance that lacks a clear purpose, especially when a lengthy commute leads to a day spent on virtual meetings.
 
A stronger workplace strategy makes in-person time intentional and gives people clear reasons to come together.
