In 1986, Vancouver marked its centennial with a clear idea: That the people of this city would share their talent, energy, and goodwill to create something meaningful together. That wasn’t a legal mandate. It was a cultural one. A call to contribute.

Walking through the city, you can still see how that idea was expressed, not just in words, but in what was commissioned, built, and left behind. The lion isn’t decoration. It represents presence, strength, and the expectation that what we create here should have substance.

Well Vancouver, I’m here.

Over 30 years in interior design, across residential, commercial, and global projects, and it all comes down to one thing:

Clarity in decisions.

Most spaces don’t fail in construction. They fail long before, when no one is guiding the outcome with intention. That’s where I work. I see my role as part of that same cultural expectation, bringing experience, discipline, and talent to create spaces that are resolved, intentional, and elevate how people live.

If you’re planning a renovation, a new build, or trying to resolve something that doesn’t feel right, I offer focused consultations through to full service design. Based in Vancouver. Available locally and globally.

Most renovation problems don’t come from construction. They come from decisions made too late. I regularly see homeowners asking for opinions from anyone with a keyboard on layouts, materials, and finishes that will be permanently installed. These are not small choices. They affect cost, function, and long-term value, and when they’re made without a clear plan, the result is often a space that feels unresolved.

Interior design is not decoration. It is decision-making before construction begins. How materials meet, how elements align, how proportions are resolved, these are the decisions that determine whether a space feels intentional or compromised.

Many people try to save money by avoiding design fees. In practice, that often leads to rework, delays, and unnecessary expense.

I’m Kevin C. Hall, an interior designer based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, with over 30 years of experience across residential, commercial, and hospitality projects, including work internationally. I’ve recently opened my practice and currently have availability, so I’m offering focused 1-hour consultations.

In-person in Vancouver or remote globally.

If you’re planning a renovation, selecting materials, or trying to resolve a space before construction begins, I’m available to help you make the right decisions upfront.

A client recently asked why a finished installation didn’t feel right, even though the work itself was done properly.

If you’ve ever walked into a newly completed space and felt like something was “off,” even though everything was done well, this is usually why. A renovation can be executed cleanly and still feel unresolved when key decisions weren’t fully worked out before construction began. Things like tile edges, transitions between materials, and how surfaces meet might seem small, but they’re what make a space feel intentional. When those decisions are left to be figured out on site, the result is usually a standard solution rather than one that feels designed.

Construction should be ex*****on. Design is where the decisions are made.

If you’re planning a renovation, I’m happy to review plans before construction begins.

Some spaces are designed to be seen. Others are designed to be experienced. This dining space is about control of light, proportion, and atmosphere. The enclosure creates intimacy. The palette builds warmth. The lighting anchors the entire composition.

Nothing here is accidental. This is what happens when a space is fully resolved before anything is built.

If you’re planning a renovation, furnishing, or layout change, the most valuable step isn’t more options, it’s clarity.

Right now I’m offering focused, in-person sessions for Vancouver homeowners who want immediate, professional direction:

• 60-Minute Design Clarity
• 3-Hour Designer Intensive
• Condo Layout Optimization

These are designed to prevent costly mistakes and give you a clear path forward. DM to book. Limited availability.

If you’re planning a renovation in Vancouver, here’s something worth knowing:

Most problems don’t come from contractors. They come from unclear decisions before construction begins. I’ve been working in interior design for over 30 years, and I often help homeowners figure out:

• what should actually change in the layout
• what’s not worth touching
• how to approach the project before hiring trades

I’m offering one-hour design consultations for people who want clarity before starting.

If that would help, feel free to message me.

Kitchen & Bathroom Renovation

In this historic Manhattan brownstone residence, the original layout limited circulation and usable space. The renovation reconfigured the kitchen and bathroom areas to improve flow between the main living spaces while introducing custom millwork for additional storage.

Thoughtful planning can dramatically change how a home functions without increasing the footprint.
