A Collection of Oil on Canvas Paintings by Canadian Polish Artist Dr. Rozalia Dobrucka (1920 - 2015) Available at Atassi Antique & Arts.
Dr. Rozalia Dobrucka was born in post WWI near the town of Lwow, Poland in 1920.
From an early age, she had a passion for the Arts, She took every opportunity to gain knowledge and paint and draw. Her hope was to pursue a career as an artist, but her parents persuaded her to further her education in a different career path, and she attended the Polytechnic University of Wroclaw where she graduated as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1948.
Love of adventure took her on many journeys around the world, and in 1958, she and her husband immigrated to Canada wherein she became a member of the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association having worked primarily in Ontario.
Her desire for knowledge and to learn, took her in many directions, but always coming back to the Arts, She taught and influenced others to take up art as a form of relaxation. It was her belief that if, you could hold a pen or pencil, you could also paint, some better than others, but one had to try.
To find peace and comfort, after a hard day's work, Rosalia turned to painting pictures of the places that she had travelled to around the world, to escape into the beauty of foreign lands. Generously, many of these artworks were presented to her colleges and friends over the years.
Throughout her life, Rozalia was always reinventing herself. This was evident when she took on the art of paper mache sculptures. After studying books and paintings of the old tall ships, she embarked on making accurate paper mache replicas of the old style tall ships that brought immigrants from Europe to Canada in the 1800's. One of these model replicas built by her was presented to the Polish Canadian Pioneer Centre in Wilno, Ontario. Rozalia continued to pursue her artistic talents and inspire others with her artwork until her death in 2015 at the age of 95 in Toronto.
