Looking for window shutters for an upcoming renovation project? 🏠

Custom wood shutters offer more than practical window coverage. Their colour, texture, and finish become part of the overall interior, making it important to coordinate them with flooring, furniture, trim, and wall colours.

Warm wood tones can complement traditional interiors, while white and neutral finishes often work well in contemporary spaces. For projects that combine traditional and modern elements, natural wood tones can help create a balanced, cohesive look.

For contractors and renovators, choosing the right custom shutters adds a finishing detail that can help bring the entire space together.

Multiple windows can bring plenty of natural light — but how do you keep that light balanced across the room? ☀️

Zebra blinds make it easier to manage different levels of sunlight while maintaining a coordinated appearance across every window.

Their alternating sheer and opaque fabric bands allow daylight to be adjusted throughout the space, helping reduce glare without completely darkening the room.

The Original California Shutters offers custom zebra blinds for multi-window spaces where consistent light control, privacy, and a clean finish all matter.

What if wood shutters aren’t the right fit for every room in a project?

Different spaces often call for different levels of light, privacy, and visual weight. Sheers can soften natural light, shades offer flexible coverage, blinds provide straightforward adjustment, and zebra blinds offer adjustable control over light and privacy.

At The Original California Shutters, our selection extends beyond custom wood shutters, making it easier to choose the right window treatment for each space.

A clean shutter finish often depends on more than the panels and louvres.

The frame plays a key role in how the entire shutter system fits within the window opening. When it is selected to suit the window depth, trim, and installation method, the finished appearance tends to look more integrated throughout the space.

Different conditions call for different frame options—inside-mount for a built-in appearance, outside-mount when window depth is limited, and decorative frames where architectural continuity is desired.

At The Original California Shutters, frames are custom manufactured alongside the shutters to suit each window opening and its surrounding trim.

This approach helps support a more precise fit and a consistent finished appearance after installation.

Working with specialty window shapes?

Arched, angled, and oversized openings often require a more precise approach than standard shutter solutions can provide. Fit, alignment, and overall appearance depend on how accurately the shutters are manufactured to the window's specifications.

At The Original California Shutters, custom manufacturing allows shutters to follow the exact geometry of each opening. This helps support proper alignment, a clean finished appearance, and reliable operation once installed.

It is a practical solution for non-standard windows without relying on extensive on-site modifications.

Looking to achieve better control over how light works in a space?

Louvre size plays a bigger role than many people expect. It influences light levels, glare, privacy, and the overall feel of a room throughout the day.

At The Original California Shutters, every shutter is custom manufactured to your specifications, including louvre size. Larger louvres can allow for broader views and increased natural light when open, while smaller louvres offer more precise light and privacy control.

Getting that balance right from the start can help create a cleaner, more functional finished result.

Skylights are often among the most challenging window openings to cover effectively.

Regular windows tend to follow more standardized dimensions. Skylights, however, can vary significantly in angle, shape, size, and placement from one project to another.

That’s why off-the-shelf solutions do not always provide the best fit.

At The Original California Shutters, we custom manufacture window shutters to suit the specific application — helping manage light, glare, and solar heat gain while providing a tailored fit.
