The other day at the workshop, someone picked up a stem of real touch tulips from the studio and said, “These look SO real.”
And honestly… they really do.
Another guest picked them up, brought them close, smiled, and said:
“But they don’t smell real.”
I have thought about that moment so many times since.
Because there absolutely is a place for silks. I have them in my own home too. They’re practical, beautiful, long-lasting, and sometimes exactly what a space needs.
But there is still something about real flowers that simply cannot be recreated.
The softness.
The movement.
The way they change day by day.
And especially the scent.
This week I keep walking past the arrangement from Saturday’s workshop, and every time I catch the smell of hyacinth and peony drifting through the house, it makes me happy all over again.
Real flowers don’t last forever.
That’s part of their magic.
They ask us to notice them while they’re here.
To enjoy them fully.
To slow down enough to smell them.
And somehow, that fleeting little bit of beauty feels more meaningful because of it.
Sorry for so few pics of the day Saturday- The barn was filled with 19 beautiful beings and I just get so busy I forget to capture everyone😩
But trust me it was an amazing day!!!
