Vernon Community Arts Centre The Arts Centre runs a number of events throughout the year, and features work of both emerging and established artists.

The Vernon Community Arts Centre is a creative hub offering classes for all ages, exhibits, events, art supplies, a local artisan shop, and studio drop-ins to inspire and connect the community. The Vernon Community Arts Centre is a community based facility providing a variety of classes and workshops for beginner, intermediate and professional artists of all ages. Access to specialist studios and equipment is available to ACNO members, which gives them an opportunity to work on their own projects while interacting and collaborating with others. Gallery exhibits change monthly, and the Art Shop carries local art all year long. Visitors are always welcome, and we're happy to give you a tour around. The Arts Centre is operated by the Arts Council of the North Okanagan, a charitable non-profit organization that supports all arts and culture activities in Greater Vernon and the surrounding areas.

The Vernon Community Arts Centre is saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Steve Hook.

Steve was an invaluable resource behind the scenes at the Arts Centre, generously sharing his expertise and helping us maintain and repair our studio kilns.

His support extended well beyond our Arts Centre, as Steve was well known for sharing his knowledge and helping potters throughout the wider arts community.

We are grateful for the time, knowledge, and support Steve so generously gave to our community. He will be deeply missed.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.

OCTOBER IS HERE! 🍂 And it’s the perfect time to get creative!

Whether you want to pick up a paintbrush, get back to drawing, try printmaking, experiment with alcohol inks, make something from glass, or explore a whole new creative medium, there’s plenty happening at VCAC this month.

We have options for ages 8+ and adults, with classes for beginners, experienced artists, and everyone in between.

🧡🧡🧡 Truth and Reconciliation / Orange Shirt Day

Today, we honour and remember the children who never returned home, and the survivors, families, and communities whose lives continue to be impacted by residential schools.

We acknowledge that the land on which we gather, create, and share our work is the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Syilx (Okanagan) Peoples.

We honour the deep artistic, cultural, and storytelling traditions rooted in this place since time immemorial, and the enduring presence, creativity, and contributions of Indigenous peoples, past, present, and future.

May this day be a time to listen, learn, remember, and reflect on the ongoing journey toward truth and reconciliation.

Looking for a little local art inspiration? First Friday is calling! 🎨

Join us at the Vernon Community Arts Centre on Friday, October 2, from 11 am–3 pm for an afternoon of local artists, creative spaces, and plenty to explore.

✨ Meet Ann Willsie and Wanda Vincent and get a closer look at what they’re creating. Ann works in expressive, impressionistic oils, while Wanda explores colour and texture through watercolour and mixed media.

🖼️ Then, head into our Print Studio to meet Gale Woodhouse and Jeanne Byron, who are renting the space and working together as they explore painting and printmaking. Stop in, say hello, and get a peek at their creative process!

Come wander through the Centre, chat with artists, discover different creative practices, and see what’s happening behind the studio doors.

First Friday Art Trail is a free monthly event connecting the community with studios, galleries, and creative spaces throughout Greater Vernon. Come explore!
