Crazy about kimchi? Check out , a new kimchi and Korean food maker cooking out of Kitchen Connect! We spoke with founder Seona Jeong the other week about her love of this incredible, flavour-packed ferment and her connection to it.

You can order a variety of different kimchi (radish kimchi, white kimchi, and signature sliced) through her Instagram and on the store!

Why did you decide to start My Pick?
I wanted to share the flavors of Korean kimchi and food with more people. Kimchi is such a healthy and delicious staple, full of natural probiotics, but I also love sharing other Korean foods—like desserts, cakes, and street food. There are so many amazing flavors, and I want to bring them to the local community.

Where did you learn how to make kimchi?
I learned from my mom. Growing up, kimchi was always a part of our meals, and I would help her make it. It’s a long and labor-intensive process, but it was a tradition in our home, and I’ve carried that with me.

What do you love about kimchi?
I love how versatile kimchi is—it can be enjoyed on its own or used in so many dishes. The taste constantly changes as it ferments, which makes it exciting to eat. Plus, its health benefits are amazing!

How can people order your products/learn more about your business?
People can order through my Instagram, and I’ll be joining the South Island FarmHub soon. I’m also working on a website. This summer, I plan to attend street markets, which will be a great way to connect with more people.

Did you know and love the restaurant Fork'n Pork and their decadent mac 'n' cheese? We've got good news for you—they're cooking it up again at Kitchen Connect for their line of Canadian frozen comfort meals called Take a Break Foods!

What's more, using Canadian-made ingredients has always been a part of their business plan. 🧀

Says owner Ben Bryce: "The vision for Take a Break Foods is to mass produce Canadian frozen food options that are affordable, and made with Canadian ingredients. Rising food costs have made frozen meals more appealing as of late, and we hope to bring products to market that taste great and are easy on the budget. Many of the frozen selections currently available in your favourite grocery store are unfortunately not Canadian, especially when it comes to dairy and cheese ingredients."

We're so pleased to welcome Noir Triangle to Kitchen Connect! 🍙

Founder Yukifumi was born and raised in Fukuoka, Japan and moved to Victoria in 2021 to study full-time at a university here.

Says Yukifumi: "While balancing my studies and a part-time job, I often struggled to find quick, healthy meal options. As time went on, I began to miss the comforting taste of my mom’s homemade cooking.

Although Japanese food is quite popular in Victoria and there are some excellent options, I found myself longing for something truly traditional: onigiri! Simple, delicious, and healthy rice balls that remind me of home.

With that nostalgia in mind, I decided to share a taste of my country by bringing these delightful treats to our beautiful Vancouver Island. I hope you enjoy our freshly made onigiri and love them as much as I do!"
