I would like to say it is a new idea, it isn't - so many of us have been working with our Pops for years and generations.... BUT - this is new-ish for me! My Dad (aka Pops) has been a woodworker for officially the last 49 years...He has done kitchen cabinets interior/exterior, doors, windows, tables, shelves... the list goes on. He is going a little smaller scale these days. Enter "Me" well,"me" i
ncludes, my Momma, my sissy, my niece and myself (Jacque). This started slowly, beginning with Momma helping Pops in the shop - some times to the wee hours of the morning. When my sister and I were old enough (maybe 11 or 12), we were out there in the shop too, shoveling the shavings, catching the boards off the planer, using the drill press. Not glorious, but still the steps to get to the end result! And now, my niece is in the mix! Last year she set up "her own office" in the shop, this year- she is catching the boards off the planer and in between that she is hammering what ever she can! Gluing pieces together and painting them! Pops is in that shop every day, it is in his blood, he wouldn't know what to do without it! And now, I can say it is in my (our) blood too, it makes my heart happy to create, on my own and together. I have been able to come up with ideas along with my sissy. We take it to Pops... and yes, the initial response was " What the heck do you wanna do?" ... now he basically grins and says "Alright". Mostly he is the builder, I am getting in there a bit more now... but mainly I do the thoughts of creating and the finishing. We all have the ideas, and we work it together to get it done!! He has so much patience teaching us, what he is has been such a natural at for many years. We make small wall hanging shelves, serving trays, charcuterie boards, signs, small tables, decorative boxes, stools ... to name a few. We have also had our had in refinishing previously loved items, chairs, cabinets etc. We are excited to share our projects with you and your families, in your main house, your cottage, cabin, lake house... bring it to the vacation trailer for goodness sake! We hope you see a piece you will love and can't live without. And, there you will have a little part of "Pops 'n' me" around you!
