A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for the Free Neighbourhood Mending Social at the Beehive Fibre Arts Centre! 🧵✨

It was wonderful to come together, share skills, repair well-loved garments, and connect with our fibre arts community. Your enthusiasm, creativity, and willingness to learn from one another made the event such a success.

☀️ Summer Social Drop-In Hours are starting at the Beehive Fibre Arts Centre! ☀️

Looking for a welcoming place to craft, connect, and spend time with fellow makers? Join us for our new drop-in crafting sessions this summer.

Bring your knitting, crochet, embroidery, mending, needle felting, or any portable project you'd like to work on.

🧶 General Public Drop-In Hours
Tuesdays & Wednesdays
12 PM – 3 PM
Starting June 2

🌈 2SLGBTQIA+ Community Sessions
Thursdays
4 PM – 7 PM
Starting June 11

Bring your own project if you can, and we'll have a small selection of shared supplies available in the space. We're also accepting donations of knitting needles, crochet hooks, embroidery supplies, and needle felting materials (needles, wool, and foam pads). Please bring donations directly to the Beehive Fibre Arts Centre, where they'll be used to support community crafting sessions and future art projects.

We can't wait to spend the summer making, sharing, and connecting with you. 💛

Join us for a cozy, beginner-friendly evening of learning and repairing together. We’ll share simple techniques for mending knitwear - whether you love visible mending or prefer a subtle repair that blends right in.

Thank you for celebrating 120 years of Beehive with us! This week we have a few final pieces in our Anniversary Collection to round out this season of celebration.

It’s a dilemma every knitter faces at some point - how do you manage small circumference knitting? Whether you’re making socks, sleeves, or toques, here’s a quick guide to three common methods:

DPNs: A classic choice for socks and other small projects. Stitches are divided across multiple double-pointed needles, with patterns often using the needle divisions as markers for shaping or pattern repeats.

Magic Loop: Uses a long circular needle to knit small circumferences by pulling excess cable through the work. Especially handy for knitting two socks at once! You’ll need a circular needle at least 32" long.

Shortie Needles: Short-tipped circular needles for knitting uninterrupted rounds - great for colourwork, brioche, sleeves, and socks.
