If a whole new line of yarns wasn't enough, our latest SandnesGarn delivery was also bursting with brand new colours.

The new shades are ripe with vibrant purples, leafy greens, and nut browns, colours that are perfectly evocative of this season of abundance.

Try a statement accessory in Plum purple, a striped sweater in deep Coffee Melange and soft Brunnera Blue, or a baby garment in sweet Lemonade yellow.

These new colours are available across our range of Sandnes Garn yarns, from woolly favourite Peer Gynt, to soft Sunday, to fluffy Tynn Silk Mohair. Let us know what your favourite new colour is below!

Fall is a busy season here at Beehive, with lots of new yarns arriving over the next few months.

To kick things off, we're introducing Atlas from SandnesGarn, a lambswool and Merino blend that's soft, woolly, and wonderfully warm.

Atlas works up to a worsted-weight gauge making it a perfect choice for cosy sweaters and warm accessories.

Pop into the store to give this new arrival a squish or find it online at the link below.

Let us know in the comments what you'd make first in Atlas!

This week we have the honour of sharing this beautiful WIP from Kate - the Nordic Bloom from worked up in Range by .

We wish you could give this one a squish! The fabric is rustic and soft with an extra bounce from the colourwork floats. Kate is working the vest version and is planning on knitting contrast ribbing around the armholes and button-band.

This piece is knit bottom-up and Kate opted for a provisional cast on so she could come back to her ribbing later (a great tactic if you're a little short on yarn). We can't wait to see this one finished!

The past month has flown by and not without some incredible pattern releases! Here's a quick round-up of a few of our favourite patterns from August and what we'd make them in🌛🍂 🔥

1. Järvimää by is one of the 23 beautiful patterns featured in 10th Anniversary Issue. This pattern is written for Range, a local BC yarn that is stocked exclusively at Beehive. We love the pairing of woolly Range with the scalloped texture of this design.

2. Cabinmates is the latest release from colourwork whiz . This nautical themed design is bursting with character and would knit up wonderfully in plush Double Sunday from (of course we'd pick classic sailor blue and white).

3. Luce from .creabea is a lovely pointelle vest and cardigan that is bang on trend for the season. In classic Rebecca Clow fashion, Luce comes with several options for collar and sleeve length making it a wonderfully versatile pattern. We'd love to knit this one in cosy Peruvian from to make a beautiful layering piece for Fall.

4. Knits for your knitting! The Able Sisters Needle Case from@eatyourfiberzz is a great little stash buster to keep your unruly circular needles organised. This pattern is written for DK- to worsted-weight yarn and requires only 50-60m, about half a ball.

Let us know in the comments what patterns have got you feeling excited for Fall!

EDIT: APPLICATIONS NOW CLOSED

We're hiring!

We're looking for a part-time Inventory Associate to join our small, close-knit team as the busy Fall season approaches.

This role is focused on stocking shelves and maintaining accurate inventory counts. The role requires someone who is detail-oriented and comfortable with light physical work. This is a great fit for someone who loves fiber crafts and enjoys hands-on organizational work.

This week we've been thinking a bit about the idea of perfection in our crafts.

Creating your own clothing is an act that takes a great deal of patience, commitment, and care.

It's no surprise that many of us feel precious about our handcrafted clothing and there is no doubt that these pieces are treasures indeed.

But our handmade clothing is made to be worn. Long after the last stitch is bound off, these pieces will continue to transform as they are used, loved, broken, and mended. Over the years these pieces become changed, and no less beautiful for that.

This is a reminder that your handcrafted clothes don't need to be perfect or pristine to be cherished. Each hole, each darn, and each imperfection is a testament to the hands that created them, one loving stitch at a time.

If you want to learn more about the art of mending, try our Intro to Mending class, open for registration now.

Socks are some of the most fun and most useful items you can knit so we thought we'd take a look at some sock yarns that work up into very different pairs of socks 🧦🧶

1. West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4 Ply is a classic sock yarn spun from a blend of 75% wool and 25% nylon, including 35% Bluefaced Leicester. This breed is prized for the long staple length of its fibres which produce yarns that are smooth, soft, and extra hard-wearing - a perfect choice for a hardy pair of socks.

2. Organic Cottage Sock from Fleece Artist & Handmaiden Fine Yarns is a real treat of a sock yarn. These limited-edition skeins are spun from 80% organic Merino and 20% nylon and are available in gorgeous variagated hand-dyed colourways inspired by Canada's National Parks. This yarn is soft, plump and knits up into a pair of socks that are warm, cushiony and incredibly comfortable.

3. Estelle Yarns Evolution Cotton Sock is made from a blend of 88% cotton and 12% nylon which creates a smooth, breathable fabric that is great for summer and those with wool sensitivities. This yarn is available in a selection of self-striping colourways that knit up into bold, bright stripes with a touch of seaside whimsy.

4. Supersocke Alpaka Color from ONline is a sock yarn with 60% superwash wool, 25% polyamide and 15% alpaca. The alpaca fibres add extra warmth to this yarn which knits up into a colourful and wonderfully cozy pair of socks.

You'll find these yarns at the links below.
