I made this for some friends a few years ago and really enjoyed the design process in my CAD software. I combined a 3D graphic flourish with a charcuterie board. This was my first attempt, and I like how it turned out. I customized it in the lower right corner with the couple's names. It's a great gift idea, and I think they use it regularly—at least when we visit, anyway. Made from walnut and finished with my favorite natural beeswax polish. Please let me know if I should make more of these.

Okay, I can't claim originality for this design. My wife saw it in a store, sent me a picture, and that was that. I can't find the original creator, but they’re out there somewhere. Anyway, it was fun to design and make my version on the CNC, and adding brass buttons really sets it off. I finished it with my own beeswax board butter. It's a great tray for Christmas cookies, chocolates, desserts, or whatever you like.

I really enjoyed creating this small walnut cheese board. I've seen similar designs with such a natural, organic feel that you just have to touch them and hold them in your hands. Once this one was finished, I couldn't stop feeling it and running my fingers along the soft lines. The natural, hand-polished beeswax finish really helps. Nothing is as satisfying as grabbing an ancient tool like this old drawknife I picked up at an antique market a few years ago. This simple tool has been used by woodworkers for almost 2,000 years to shape everything from shingles to spokes. Perfectly designed, it has never required any improvements. I was trying to create a charcuterie board that isn't like all the rest, so my wife described what she doesn't like about most of the ones I've made her. This is what we came up with. Carved dishes arranged randomly allows for olives, pickles, dips and perhaps a little chutney to have a secure place to sit without running across the board. I created this from a live edge piece of walnut. If you still want to have a flat side, the reverse works perfectly too. See all the pics.
