Support childhood cancer research in Canada by shopping artisanal items from Canadian makers. We do not operate on consignment.

Orelia is an online shopping site put together by artist Sashira Gaifc (she/her) in Winnipeg, Manitoba on treaty one territory, which is the traditional territory of the Anishnaabe, Ininewak, and Dakota peoples, and the homeland of the Métis Nation. Orelia was founded in 2021 when Sashira’s son, Adrian finished up his cancer treatment for medulloblastoma. Sashira was looking for a way to help make

a difference in the lives of families dealing with cancer, and had the idea to create Orelia after many of her maker friends and colleagues reached out to show support.

The name Orelia means “gold,” which is the colour for the childhood cancer awareness ribbon. Gold was chosen as the colour to represent childhood cancer because gold is a precious metal, and our children are the most precious thing we have.

All pieces offered on this site are inspired by the concept of “gold,” or by a specific childhood cancer. Each piece is also exclusive to Orelia, meaning you can’t find it anywhere else. Our children are all unique, and this site reflects that.

All artists have been paid in full for their work. It’s very important to Sashira to treat artists and makers fairly for their work.

As most of you know, Orelia has its own line of handmade goods where a portion of proceeds go towards childhood cancer research.
⭐️
This year we have partnered with , so your admission fees to the market will stay in Manitoba and help fund research and trials headed by our own local doctors and researchers.
⭐️
The items we sell in our shop are all exclusive to Orelia. You can’t find them anywhere else. Each maker has created an item that relates to childhood cancer in some way, be it by using the colour gold, using other cancer awareness colours for specific types, or by incorporating a statistic.
⭐️
Come shop the Orelia goods in person on Sunday, November 24th, 1-5pm, at 194 Taché. Suggested admission donation is $5.

Our market is hosted by on Taché.

If you’re coming from downtown, you go over the Norwood bridge, past Marion, and the shop is right near the corner of Taché and St Mary’s. Parking is on the street.
⭐️
Big sky is a small, cozy, cheery shop. Perfect for the person who wants the market experience, but without the crowds of some of the large markets happening that weekend.
⭐️
This year, admission fees will be donated to and funds will go directly to paediatric research and trials. Suggested admission donation is $5.

These Rainbows are created exclusively for Orelia, by Brittney of . Orelia Rainbows represent a sign of hope, after the storm; perhaps symbolizing the hope for a cure to childhood cancer.

These cheery, hand punched, Orelia Rainbows are made with small batch Manitoba wool, including Rambouillet, Cotswald, Merino and Icelandic Lopi. Each rainbow is unique, just like the many childhood cancer warriors. Orelia Rainbows make adorable nursery decor, and add a touch of whimsy to any room of the home they adorn.

I created this print exclusively for Orelia.

This Sarsaparilla print is part of a series to bring awareness to the various types of childhood cancers. Sarsaparilla represents Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma for the series. The awareness colour for Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma is a lime green colour. Sarsaparilla (known as Wabos’odji’bik in Ojibway) is found across so-called Canada, and has been used as food and medicine. The flower buds are bright green, hence the choice for it to represent Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.

This simplified, firework-like image of Sarsaparilla is sure to add punch to your gallery wall, office, or child’s bedroom. Looks great in its own, but also would be a visual party flanked by my Goldenrod and Coneflower prints.
