In Winnipeg Manitoba on January 28th it was -28°C (-37°C with the windchill). Our LEADSUN model AE3C commercial solar overheard light turned on automatically at sunset and stayed on until sunrise. This is 15 hours without interruption. That is a technological breakthrough for solar outdoor overhead lighting in harsh winter climates. Typical solar overhead lighting systems struggle to come on in -15°C weather for any longer than 8 hours.

LEADSUN accomplishes this without using heavy lead acid batteries. Their Lithium Ion batteries are built into the solar panel/controller and this solar panel/controller powers the separate LED light head.

Having these two components separated allows the owner to position the solar panel/collector so it can maximize exposure to the sun while also optimizing on the positioning of the LED light head to capitalize on the desired direction of illumination. If for example you want to illuminate a north facing roadway you can position the LED light head facing north while the solar panel/controller can be positioned facing south to maximize sun exposure and power collection.
