AkuRuka

AkuRuka AkuRuka offers 100% hand-made crafts made by Mapuche-Pehuenche women, who through entrepreneurship hope to open doors towards a more self-sufficient future.

AkuRuka was born to support the entrepreneurship project of Mapuche-Pehuenche women of the Lonquimay region, in the Chilean Araucanía. The process of these weaves begins with the shearing of the sheep, then the spinning and dying of the wool with natural herbs. The design is then finally woven onto the loom, which ends up being a unique item in the world. By working with their own resources, these

women are able to develop a new way of income, which helps them become self- sufficient and economically independent. By supporting AkuRuka you are supporting the craftsmanship of these women, who through their skilled hands are opening doors towards a better future.
