The Black Leaf design? I like to give names to any design that comes my way. I suggested we use the jute stamp as the base to give the design more texture. We decided on a 20 cm leaf. Proportion is so important when using a pattern., It all depends on the look and the size of the rug.
I make an enlarged photocopy of the design to trace onto the rug. Here I show the designer how the design will look before continuing.
The client ( YOU!) is a part of the process and kept updated on all progress.

I'm at my favorite photocopier, enlarging a design to apply to a 4 foot round rug. This is a pottery design by Rodney John. Stay tuned as I progress on this design. I am excited to see how it turns out!

Rodney John is the incredible artist who creates pottery. He has generously given me permission to use his designs as inspiration for my painted canvas rugs. This runner rug is inspired by what I call the Dragonfly, sans dragonfly! I am now starting on a round rug using one of his designs as a gift to him.

When you see a design on a rug, fabric, or pottery, consider using it as inspiration for custom art for your floor.

This 24 ft runner is perfect for a covered porch. Sometimes it does receive rain when we have our tremendous aguaceros ( downpours) but as its sealed with varnish, I just have to mop it dry.
Consider a long runner for your porch or round or square, I can make them in any size, design and color. Have fun!

I felt compelled to write him to ask if I can use his designs as inspiration for my canvas rugs. And I offered to make hiim a canvas rug. Let's see what he says.
