Finally finished my Paris Facades watercolor painting!
- Sketched the scene with a mechanical pencil
- Outlined with a ballppint pen
- Painted a Light and Shadows undercoat
- Painted the shadows contrast
- Painted with color on top
- Adjusted contrast
- Finished outlining with the pen
-Flipped my painting to paint the sky

After almost finishing my Paris Facades watercolor painting:
- Sketched the scene with a mechanical pencil
- Outlined with a ballppint pen
- Painted a Light and Shadows undercoat
- Painted the shadows contrast
- Painted with color on top
- Adjusted contrast
- Finished outlining with the pen. now I need to paint the sky.
And to do that I have to flip my painting upside down so I can control the watercolor wash to have a smooth gradient and also to not paint over the finished painting.
So while painting the sky, I’m sharing with you the most satisfying part of painting with watercolors (or acrylics or in general).. Removing the tape!

After sketching with pencil, sketching on top with pen, painting the lights and shadows undercoat, adding contrast, adding color, and adding more shadows..I finally found time to sketch once again with the pen, and to add more contrast, emphasise some details that I wanted.
I use a ballpoint pen because it gives a more sketchy look than fineliners, it’s more comfortable, it’s precise and waterproof, and it also allows me to hatch and shade with different intensity of ink.

Sharing my art process painting an amazing sea view from the cliffs of Aphrodite beach in Cyprus with watercolors.
I started with a quick pencil sketch
Greens and earth undercoat with ochre and olive green
Detailing on the earth and bushes with darker greens
Sea undercoat with turquoise and ultramarine blue
Sky with a mix of all above colors (so to get grey)
