This penthouse in Berlin’s Upper West is more than an apartment – it is a manifesto of craftsmanship, technology, and architectural daring. Commissioned by investor René Benko, OOW transformed the 33rd floor into a 1,000 m² suite where every detail was pushed to its limits.
The interiors showcase Europe’s finest trades. In the master bathroom, a bathtub milled from a single block of marble stands beside terrazzo vanities and curved glass doors, with brass fixtures and a heated mirror completing the ensemble. Even the toilet seat is heated. The guest bathrooms, sculpted from terrazzo blocks cast under vacuum, combine flawless geometry with panoramic views over Berlin.
Public and private zones blend seamlessly. Conference rooms, clad in walnut and acoustically treated with fabric panels, neighbour living areas that open onto a grand dining hall. Here, a ship-like walnut hull supports a ten-metre Calacatta marble table, beneath a mirrored dome that conceals advanced ventilation and acoustic engineering.
The master office is conceived as a showroom, anchored by a five-ton marble bar designed like a keystone bridge and set with surgical precision into the high-rise structure. Floors of terrazzo with brass inlays, golden columns, and Tom Dixon lights reinforce the statement.
Behind the scenes, OOW’s 3D visualisation and VR modelling guided every decision – from leather-clad curves to the alignment of hundreds of light points. Nothing was left to chance. The result is a project where invisible systems are as refined as the visible surfaces, and where luxury meets architectural discipline.
