A little bit about me and macrame

My name is Angela Lauret and I love macrame! I was flipping through a Better Homes and Garden magazine while waiting for the dentist and came across an article on how to macrame a lantern. I snapped a couple pictures with my phone, went to Hobby Lobby right after my teeth cleaning, and went home to make the project. I finished it during my baby’s nap time and was absolutely hooked. I wanted to add macrame to everything I came across...a stick, copper pipe, curtain rod, lampshade, metal rings, and all things wire framed. I find macrame projects fun, challenging, and meditative. I hope to share my passion for creating with you!

I offer two different classes at the RAF Lakenheath Arts & Craft Center, Macrame Basics 101 and Macrame Basics 102. Although the classes are labeled 101 or 102, you can sign up for whatever time slot works for you. $40 plus supplies will get you two, two hour class sessions to work on your project. If you don’t finish your project in the allotted time, you can come to any additional class times to work on it until you finish it. I want you to have a completed project and understand that we all learn at different paces. Macrame Basics 101 is for beginners. You will learn several macrame knots to create a small wall hanging (about 14in x 24in). I will give you handouts to keep with illustrations on how to make the knots. Macrame Basics 102 is to be taken after completing Macrame Basics 101 or if you have previous experience. You will have several projects to choose from, a plant hanger, dream catcher, or a project that you’ve found online. I will give you handouts to keep with illustrations on how to make the knots.

I am looking forward to creating macrame projects with you!

Macrame Basics 101: Monday, September 16th from 6-8pm OR Thursday, September 19th from 10am-noon
