Before: only beams, bare walls, a room waiting to remember what it once was.
After: a living room that feels like it was always meant to be exactly this.
This is the part people don’t always see - the in-between. The stripped-back Fachwerk before a single piece of furniture arrived. Just the bones of 1831, patient, honest, waiting.
Then, slowly: the antique Kachelofen finding its place again. Paintings that have outlived generations, rehung where the light finds them best. And a large English style Eck sofa - deep, comfortable, nailhead trim catching the same warmth as the old timber - settling in like it had always been there.
Nothing modern shouted over the old.
Nothing historic was left too precious to actually live in. Just a room built the same way this whole house was: one detail, listened to, at a time.
