Old and new colours mix in the workshop 🌈

I recently filled up the stock of a selection of coasters and trivets at kapau.dk and got a message right after from madeforme.cph who are in need of more mobiles! How lucky! Thank you for all the loyal customers at both shops ❤️

I made some new extra colours from some of the mobiles but I am also open to ideas. What is your favourite combo? 💜🩷? 💙❤️? 💛💜?

Our new black card packaging was designed specifically for the Strips & Stripes kinetic mobiles: simple, protective and deliberately minimal.

Because opening a piece of design should be part of the experience too. 🖤

MOIRÉ, seen differently.

A beautiful film by Martin Hackenberg, exploring our MOIRÉ coasters as kinetic objects rather than simply tableware.

I met Martin at Aalto University, where he was the master of the wood workshop and one of the most fun people there. For this film, he suspended the coasters against a black background and set them in motion creating a completely different perspective on their geometric patterns.

I love seeing how a familiar object can become something else when you change the scale, movement and context.

Thank you Martin for making the MOIRÉ patterns dance. 🖤

The story behind GLYMUR

Glymur is one of my favourite hikes in Iceland. I've hiked there multiple times, and every time I'm struck by how dramatic the landscape is, especially the steep, almost vertical drop of the waterfall and the triangular shape it has carved into the rock.

That characteristic shape became the starting point for my GLYMUR earrings.

I translated the steep geometry of the canyon into a simple geometric form and turned it into a lightweight piece of jewellery.

I love when a design can carry a little memory of a place with it.

A little throwback to the workshop.

Before a MOIRÉ trivet reaches your table, each piece of plywood goes through quite a few hands-on steps. Here I am sanding the natural birch version. One of those slightly dusty, repetitive jobs that is not particularly glamorous, but makes a big difference to the finished object.

MOIRÉ is precision laser cut from Finnish birch plywood and then finished by hand in my Copenhagen studio.

I still love the moment when a freshly cut piece starts feeling like a finished object.

A new kinetic wooden mobile exploring circles, colour and gentle movement. Five curved elements and five suspended circles create an ever-changing composition that moves with the slightest air current.

Handcrafted in Copenhagen from FSC-certified Finnish birch plywood.
