Handmade with love in Madagascar ❤️
Every rice raffia bag is carefully crafted by skilled women using a natural fiber we’ve loved since day one. No two baskets are ever the same - small variations in color, weave, and shape make each piece truly unique ✨

Our founders went to Madagascar in 1998, just at the very beginning of creating rice. They were looking for embroidery to complete their collection, but instead, they fell head over heels in love with raffia – a truly magical natural material. They developed a range of bags, baskets, and a few embroidered items, which became the flying start of rice and the beginning of a universe built on joy, creativity, and a little Everyday Magic 💫

From the very start, the mission has been simple:
Fun. Funky. Functional.

And it all began with a bag 💛

New hand-painted beauties have arrived 🎨❤️

Our third Hand-painted by rice collection is here – created in Portugal and filled with new shapes, playful details and beautifully imperfect finishes.

Each piece is shaped and finished by hand, before the motifs are carefully painted by skilled ceramic painters. The hand-drawn designs are created by our longtime friend and artist together with the rice design team.

Made to mix, match and bring a little extra color to everyday tables 🩷

rice Happy Earth is our long-term nature project on 36 hectares of former farmland in Denmark, close to our HQ. A place we chose to give back to nature and to future generations.
