It is amazing what special stitches can do. Both brioche and dip stitches make the fabric for this beanie feel like it is double. I admit that the amount of yarn also was nearly the double compared to my other knitted hats. As usual the beanie is hand knit with pure Qiviut - weight 103 grams.

Today with the sun shining from a bright blue skye it feels a bit strange to post a picture of a set consisting of hat and scarf hand knit with musk ox wool - Qiviut. But, as we all know, winter will come again, and I need to stock up a bit. The scarf has a wavy rib pattern and is long and narrow making it easy to vrap around the neck. The hat is knit with the same pattern. The wool has the natural undyed brown colour. It comes from Greenland.

I like challenges and this time my - rather poor - skiving skills were put to the test. I used some very special - and very thick - leather for the flap decoration and strap, which meant a lot of skiving, sore arms and cut and bruises. The result is satisfying, though. I used the loveliest blue pull-up leather from to sew this backpack/shoulderbag designed by Patryk at . The bag has a really good size and can hold loads of things in the big main room, the two zippered side pockets and the extra zippered pocket inside. All hardware are from , too.

An awful lot of work has to be done before you end up with a finished product. First you will have to get hold of a deer😉. Next follows a lot of punching, cutting, skiving, burnishing and sewing. I am happy with this my newest bag, which is designed by . As said, the main leather is from deer (soft, soft) bought from . The firm lighter brown is vegtan leather from . All the hardware as well as the fabric used to reinforce the deer skin is from . The bag is lined with dry oilskin. It has two pockets outside and two inside - one with zipper.

With these two beanies I have run out of stock of Qiviut. Luckily, it will not be like that for long. The beanies are knit by hand with thick Qiviut on the outside, while the lining is knit with thinner Qiviut. Both can be purchased from my Etsy-shop (see link in profile).
