As I am working in quantities at the moment I figured it’s a good time to show you…

how one ceramic object evolves from simple lump of clay into a finished bowl. On the second image I marked each step so you can easily compare what happens in different stages with this simple object. How it shrinks as all the moisture leaves the clay and it becomes stoneware.

Used Goerg and Schneider 254 stoneware here, that is most commonly used light stoneware in Estonia.

Counting the days when I can start my motorcycle season. 😀 I have sold my motorcycles a couple of times now, to buy different equipment for the ceramics endeavors but this year is different…

I got one of my favorite rides as a Christmas present (not the one on the photo, that on is a rare specimen at ) So my plan is to find a way how to transport ceramics etc by motorcycle.

I have been off from riding for too long now, as all my time has gone towards building my pottery business and that means driving endlessly by car, carrying materials, equipment, parcels, construction stuff…

Let’s do this pots, you can do it. We will find a way how to get me back riding as it is like therapy in fresh air. I intend to ride more in the nature than on the main roads, so can’t wait to get back into saddle.

No you know my other hobby too. Well pottery isn’t by far my hobby anymore 🤣 but loving it anyway.

Vase of Tuesday ✨
White stoneware with mat white glaze.
Thrown on the wheel and carved the next day in its leather hard state. Holds water and flowers too.

I make my bowls from different stonewares, from light to dark and they always have easily cleanable interior so it is suitable for serving all types of dishes. And don’t be hesitant about the rough surface outside, they all are machine washable.

Shop is updated! 🔥

You’re greeted by some new bowls and few favorite minty green bowls are back in stock aswell. And couple of new one-off vases are up in the shop now too.

Our new studio at Kadaka tee 7, Tallinn is open to visitors by appointment so feel free to contact me if you’d like to come by to touch and see the pieces. There are always more pieces on the shelves than I could add to the website before they’re sold.

Between plates there’s also a bowl. An artsy bowl.

Actually we had a photoshoot last week to make new photos for my homepage with me working. And as Uluala color comes from this red-brown-violet stoneware we used that for the throwing demo.

By now I am back to making and trimming plates and mugs. Some more to do, before my first restaurant order comes together. Been enjoying this process with all its ups and downs so far 💪

Little update! As the flower season is not far, it’s time to prepare for tiny update for my shop.

There’s some new vases to be added, photos to be taken, measurements noted etc. Some bowls too, but mostly vases will be available at the shop.

This time tableware update has to wait as all my effort goes to fulfilling an order for restaurant. So hopefully early summer there’s new sets of tableware for you to choose at the shop too. Till then vases 🤩🤩

She turned out pink! 🔥

One of the vases I made from leftover stoneware at the old studio before we left, gave me a nice surprise. As the stoneware were mix of many different clay bodies I didn’t know what to expect. It looked kind of green while throwing and turned into salmon pink after first firing 😀. So simple white glaze sounded suitable for this funny looking fella. But she decided that she likes pink more. Stoneware itself turned out to be grey as mostly it will when mixed from many different colors.

She made the move with us to the new studio, but in the middle of this little chaos we had visitors in the studio and she got bought before I had time to introduce her to the world. So I do it now as she definitely deserves highlighting ✨

Time to introduce our new space 🤩. We have two separate rooms for creating, one for wheel throwing and another for sculpting. This bigger room has delightful morning light and the biggest table we could fit there, so even the greatest ideas can come to life here. The phase is slower here, as the noise from the street would not reach here. Perfect space to start a day. After arriving through the city traffic, this room welcomes you with a soft light, ready to listen to your thoughts, ideas for the upcoming day. To take a moment.

The walls got a new coat of paint, that has a name Kaolin. It seemed relevant to highlight it somehow as kaolin is like a mother of all clays. So our paint chip turned into an important artwork. And omg, how big our plants were grown, sitting on the last studios window sills 🪴. Here we have lower windows… luckily we found new suitable places for everyone. Hopefully they like it here 🤞🏻. We sure do. Have a great weekend.
