Every yacht over 50 metres is a fully custom creation — designed from scratch, shaped around a singular vision, and engineered to meet the highest standards of performance, comfort, and regulation.
At Schwalgien Design, we contribute focused design expertise within a larger team. We work closely with Owner Representatives, naval architects, and shipyards to ensure ideas are not only visually coherent — but technically and spatially feasible.
From first briefing to delivery, each project involves hundreds of professionals: engineers, interior specialists, metalworkers, outfitters, craftspeople, and regulatory experts — all working in synchrony to create something that simply can’t be bought off the shelf.

Phase 1 — Client Brief & Analysis
Every project begins with the brief. It’s the foundation of the design process — and in Phase 1, we focus on understanding it in depth.
The more detailed the brief, the clearer the direction. But when things are missing or contradictory, we help define priorities and explore options that balance function and aesthetics — especially within the limits of space or volume.

Superyacht design is highly complex. That’s why we collaborate closely with naval architects right from the start — to ensure the concept is feasible, compliant, and ready to move forward.
This phase includes:
* Brief analysis & workshop sessions
* Initial hand sketches (appearance & design language)
* Block GA development
* 2D profile studies
* Targeted research & relevant case studies

TENDER GARAGE 65m
Having a catamaran platform allowed to have a 400 sqm semi exterior garage is dedicated to storage of tenders and water toys.
It has a very industrial look to it, all beams and structure are exposed on the ceiling while for the floor it was used which is a durable material, perfectly suitable for the use of this technical area.
Launching and lifting of the tenders is done with the use of two powerful beam cranes with a total of over 12 tons of lifting capacity. It is really impressive to see such a big tender being lifted out of the water and put inside the yacht with such precision, only fitting by a few centimeters up and down.

Hosted in this area we can find:
 -       12m Custom catamaran tender (see below)
-       10m Sport rib
-       7m Rescue boat
-       4 Jetskis
-       Array of water sport equipment, bikes etc.
- Dedicated workshop

Next week Thursday 10th Nov. Our Creative Director and Founder Kirsten Schwalgien has been invited to speak on the panel at the 2022 Explorer Yachts Summit at Yacht Club de Monaco.

She will be discussing the future of the Shadow Vessel Industry and giving some insights into the Exterior & Interior Design Development of our latest project MY Nebula with Armon Shipyard / Spain.
