An order for a crocheted teddy for a baby boy. It’s been a while since I’ve made one of these, I’d forgotten how lovely it is to see them gradually come to life 😁. As usual, the eyes and nose are sewn on rather than using plastic safety eyes and noses, you can never be too careful with little ones.

I’m also working on a lovely sleeveless top called the Hatsuki by Rievive, a very talented Japanese designer whose designs are stunning. I wanted to use some of the gorgeous yarn I bought at last year’s Lanarte festival in Alicante and this pattern is the perfect choice. The hand dyed yarn is a super soft blend of merino wool, silk and yak, it will be very flowy, just as the pattern is intended to be.

And then I have to have a project which I can quickly grab if I’m going to be waiting somewhere, ie doctors appointments, waiting for food in restaurants, etc 😂😂. So another Sophie scarf is on my needles, this time in one of the newly released colours of Drops Belle, sooo pretty 😊.

My first time wearing the Claire Top by Minimi Knit Design, and what better way than to take it to the beach for an airing 😁. Please excuse the blue and white bikini underneath, as soon as we’d finished with the photos I ran back to the car to safely leave my top and then ran into the sea. Also, please excuse the wrinkles on the back of the top, I’d been sat in a rather warm car only seconds before 🙄.
I’m so happy to have been a part of this test-knit, the top is so lovely and I’m planning to make another in a brighter colour. I can highly recommend the pattern which won’t be too long before it’s released. Right, best carry on knitting 😊

This test-knit has been so engaging. The Claire Top is a beautiful pattern by Minimi Knit Design, when I’m not knitting it I’m thinking about it, and when I am knitting it I don’t want it to end, like a good book 😊. I know I’ll be making more of them in other colours and yarns, it really is so pretty and a joy to knit.
Whilst out yesterday I noticed some pouches with cats on them. Well, you can never have enough pouches with cats on them so I bought one😁, it’s perfect to keep this project in and I can quickly grab it when we’re off somewhere and I want to get a bit of knitting time in (basically all the time!)
Talking about knitting (as usual), I recently got my stepmum back into it. She used to knit loads when I was younger but hadn’t done any for quite a long time. But I knew that was all going to change if I could just get her to pick some needles up again. Since February she has now knitted nearly 20 jumpers 😁😁. There is no stopping her and I’m so pleased she’s taken it back up. She frequently visits the Casa de Lana in Albir, in fact she could quite possibly be their new best customer. On her last visit I asked her to grab me a couple of different colours of Drops Belle and she kindly gifted them to me 😊. Thank you June Dingley 🥰

So excited!! I’ve been chosen to do a test-knit for a fabulous designer I follow. It’s my first ever test-knit and I can’t wait to get started 😁. The designer is Minimi Knit Design and the item I shall be test knitting is the , a lovely lace top, perfect for the summer.
At the mo, I’m knitting a gauge swatch for it in Drops Safran in a gorgeous deep taupe. But I’m not sure whether to use this or the Lang Yarns Oceania that I bought with the Tijeras Mágicas voucher my friend got me. I was actually knitting a top with said yarn and was getting close to finishing, but now I’m not sure if I’d sooner do the Claire Top in it 🤔🤔. I’ll have to swatch in both yarns to see what I prefer 😊.
In other news 😂, I had begun making some summery micro-macrame earrings to sell but only managed to get one done when the email arrives saying that I could test knit this very pretty pattern. So the earrings have been put on hold. But if you’re interested in the earrings, please don’t hesitate to get in touch, I have time for everything 😁. They can be made in an assortment of colours and range from 17€ to 23€, depending on how many stripes they have.
Right, back to my gauge swatch 🥰🥰

After being on holiday for 6 nights at the Madcool festival in Madrid, I was ready to get my hooks and needles out again. I did take some knitting with me on my hols but it never came out of the project bag, there was just so much to do there and we had a fantastic time. I think my hands were glad for the rest mind you.

I’m now back home making crochet baskets indoors whilst it’s a tad warm outside to do anything else. These particular baskets are made with two different cords, one is a 100% linen cord, the other, a 100% recycled cotton cord. I love the combination of these fibres together. They’re perfect for adding a touch of boho to your lounge, bedroom, bathroom, etc.
Unfortunately the linen cord has been discontinued so I can’t take orders for other baskets in linen, once these are gone, that’s it.
All the baskets in the photos are for sale so if you’re interested in anything, just message me for more info.

But please don’t expect ridiculously cheap prices, the cords I use are of excellent quality. The make of the cotton cord is Bobbiny, the linen, Casasol, two ethical, sustainable brands that I often like to work with.
Then there’s the time it takes to make them of course, this also has to be taken into consideration 😁. Although I adore these crafts and I happily make things for gifts for my loved ones, when it comes to selling them, I like to keep things fair. Too many people worry that they won’t sell their work so they keep the prices cheap and only end up earning 25 céntimos per hour!! I’d sooner give them away.
Anyway, I hope you like them and as I said, if you’d like more info, just DM me 😊

I found this beautiful little flower lamp whilst I was in Murcia with my mum in May. I thought it would be a perfect gift for my dad’s partner’s Birthday as she loves this type of thing. Of course, I had to make her something for it to sit on so I decided on a macrame coaster made in the same colour that I used to make her a macrame plant hanger last year. She loved it 😊. I also regret not buying one of these lamps for me, they’re so pretty. But probably best I didn’t, my cats would probably knock it on the floor during one of their
”let’s run around the house like madmen at 11:30pm” moments 🙄.
I’ve also been working on a knit summer top in the cotton/seacell yarn I bought with the voucher my friend got me a couple of months ago. It’s so lovely to work with and hopefully it won’t be too long before it’s finished, it’s so hot lately that there’s not much else I can do in the afternoon. That’s my excuse at least 😁

Still crocheting. Here are the baskets I mentioned last time that will be given as pressies. They’re made in a lovely recycled, organic cotton braided cord from Bobbiny that is such a pleasure to work with and makes for a nice, sturdy basket. They’re perfect for putting hand creams and the likes in. I have a few dotted around the house for various bits and pieces, including storing phone and computer chargers 😁.
On another note, I’m not sure if I’m going to continue with the knit skirt I have on the needles. For some reason, I don’t like knitting with that yarn. No idea why but it feels rather uncomfortable. Will probably frog it and use it for crocheting a top or something. I’m definitely using my hooks more than my needles at the mo, I don’t know what’s got into me 😳🧶

At last it’s done, and boy are my hands happy about that!! I didn’t follow a pattern, I just did what I thought and carried on until nearly all the paper raffia yarn was gone. What’s left will be used for bows on presents and the likes, I’m done crocheting with it. I love the outcome though and it’s super light considering the size of it.

I’m now working on some crochet baskets as gifts and also thinking of casting on a crochet granny square hat and also a crochet summer top. I’m in a crochet mood again, it’s been a while. It must be ‘cause the summer is on its way 😁🌞👙🍉⛱️😎

I’m on a mission lately to use up some of the “yarn” that has been pushed to the back of my cupboard. Stuff that has been there for a few years now and makes me feel slightly guilty every time I see it hiding behind all the “nicer” yarn I have 😁.
One of these so called yarns is actually paper raffia. I think I might have started crocheting a bucket hat of some sort about 3 years ago but I must have ran out of steam. It’s not surprising, I’ve began crocheting a large bag with it and it’s a hand breaker 😩😩. Lots of rests and stretching exercises are needed whilst using it, it really is a bu**er. But I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now (hopefully not carpal tunnel 🙄) and I shall soon have a perfect, lightweight summer bag to chuck all my bits and pieces in on these wonderful warm summer evening outings 😊.

Another yarn that I’ve had for too long is a colour changing blend of cotton and acrylic. I never knew what to knit or crochet with it until recently. I’m knitting the Fest Skirt, a free pattern by Järbo yarns. If it turns out ok it will probably be more suited for the beach or maybe even in the winter over leggings, unless I want people to see my knickers 😂.

Right, off to do some more hand exercises before I start on this blooming bag again!!

Mum and I have just walked through our front doors after 3 nights away in Murcia. We had a fabulous time and the weather was so warm whilst we were there (33 degrees during the day), that I was able to wear my newly knit summer Ranunculus (pattern by Midori Hirose) that literally came off the blocking mats the day before we went on our hols. It’s the 4th one I have made, this time in a cotton yarn and it was the perfect attire for the lovely summer temperatures in Murcia. I love this pattern (you can probably tell 😁).
If you’re interested, I shall be posting a few photos of our trip on my other page, The Good Life In Spain, very soon. I highly recommend visiting Murcia, just maybe not in July and August 🥵.
