We made postcards from this summer’s campaign and we’re sending them to our people.

There’s something about a postcard that a message can’t replace. Someone stood in front of a rack, looked at dozens, and picked this one for you. Then they wrote your name. Then they found a mailbox. It’s a small gesture that takes a little effort, which is exactly why it means something.

Whoever you are far from this summer, send them one. It doesn’t have to say much. Just that you were somewhere, and they came to mind.

From the archives: early projects from the beginnings of the company.

Before founding Santa & Cole with Javier Nieto Santa, Nina Masó and Gabriel Ordeig Cole designed numerous bars and restaurants in Barcelona and beyond. Their work stood apart from the prevailing style of the time: warm lighting conceived to shape both space and the way it is inhabited; light that accompanies and creates atmosphere; geometry applied to spatial composition; and a use of colour that introduced a certain formality, giving each project its own character.

Designed by Masó and Ordeig Cole in Paris in 1987, L’Endroit was a restaurant in Batignolles, in the 17th arrondissement. The use of the Huevo de Colón lamp above the bar, the detail of the two-tone hydraulic cement tile, and the selection of Pete Sans’s Divino chair gave the Parisian space a distinctly Barcelona character of the time.
