The legend of the Sessho-seki, the fabled Killing Stone, is among the most enduring tales of Japanese folklore.

It is said that within the stone dwelt the spirit of Tamamo-no-Mae, a fearsome nine-tailed fox of immense power, gifted with the ability to assume the form of a woman of unparalleled beauty and grace. Under this enchanting guise, she entered the imperial court and won the affection of Emperor Toba. Yet beneath her elegance lay a darker purpose: to bring ruin upon the emperor and cast the realm into turmoil.

When her true nature was finally revealed, two warriors were dispatched to hunt her down. They pursued the fox across the land until, at last, she was struck down upon the plains of Nasu. But death did not claim her spirit. Instead, it passed into a volcanic stone, which came to exhale deadly vapors that slew any living creature unfortunate enough to draw near.

Thus the stone became known as the Sessho-seki — the Killing Stone — a silent monument to the lingering malice of the fallen fox.

Some tell that centuries later a wandering Buddhist monk confronted the restless spirit and, through prayer and sacred rites, succeeded in calming its wrath. Yet even then, the stone remained a place of unease, a reminder that certain shadows never truly fade.

In 2022, when the ancient rock split apart of its own accord, whispers spread once more across Japan: perhaps the spirit of Tamamo-no-Mae had finally slipped its prison and returned to the world.

Summer is here, so let's enjoy together!

Something has been missing from our hobby.

Not a new paint range.
Not another Kickstarter.
Not another box of unpainted miniatures.

A place to meet the people behind the profiles.
A place to share ideas, techniques and stories.
A place to sit around a table and simply enjoy making things together.

That's why we created the Valquiria Studio / Mokha Blue Open Studio.

A day to open the doors of our workshop and bring together the creative community of Madrid: painters, gamers, sculptors, makers, artists, collectors and curious minds who still enjoy creating things with their hands. No matter your skills, what really matters is your passion!

During the day we'll show how our resin miniatures are made, talk about creativity, hobby and projects, enjoy some coffee and snacks, and spend time surrounded by people who understand why this strange little hobby means so much to us.

Because hobbies grow stronger when they are shared.

If you live in Madrid and have ever wished there were more opportunities to meet fellow creatives and hobbyists, this is for you!

Mokha Blue officially started a few years ago.

But if we're honest, its story began much earlier.

It began in 2014, when we founded Valquiria Studio

Twelve years ago, the miniature hobby industry was a very different world. Home 3D printing was still in its infancy, Kickstarter felt revolutionary, social media worked differently, content was consumed more slowly, and many of the tools we take for granted today simply didn't exist.

Since then, new technologies, materials, platforms, and ways of creating have transformed the hobby. Companies have appeared, others have disappeared, and the industry has evolved faster than many of us could have imagined.

And we've changed too!

Back in 2014, we were driven by enthusiasm, energy, ambition, and a desire to build something of our own.

In 2026, we still have dreams.

But now we also have experience.

We have knowledge.

We have resilience.

We have scars.

And we have something we couldn't possibly have had back then: a reality built through more than a decade of consistent work.

Thousands of hours of learning.

Thousands of miniatures produced.

Mistakes, successes, customers, friends, and projects that have shaped who we are today.

Maybe we're no longer the same people who started that journey.

And that's exactly how it should be.

Because growing doesn't mean losing your enthusiasm.

It means giving it shape. Because some things are worth taking time for.
