The idea that coffee waste can become a new material for furniture and design pieces has been embraced by Nespresso, one of the most important interpreters of contemporary coffee culture.
For us, matter is the starting point, a vibration capable of creating emotions, atmospheres, and stories. It’s never an end in itself, it exists to serve emotion.
When we began working on this research, we had a clear goal: to create a material that was not only sustainable, but truly effective and aesthetically compelling, starting from an iconic waste like coffee grounds. We are extremely proud that Nespresso chose to collaborate with us to develop custom
furniture pieces using LOWIMPACT®, our proprietary technology based on a composite made of biopolymer and recycled coffee grounds.
It has been a complex and inspiring journey where computational design, advanced robotics, and
material innovation met the bold vision of a global brand.
We designed and 3D printed large-scale furniture elements with fluid geometries inspired by the material itself, fabricated using large scale 3D printers with a modified extrusion system, optimized to handle natural composites with precision. A project where architecture, material innovation, and the
future converge.
A special thanks to the Nespresso team!
