For the Red Velvet Cake Layer
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
1 tbsp cocoa powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 large egg
1 tsp white vinegar
1 tsp vanilla
1 tbsp red food colouring
---For the Cheesecake Layer-----
450 g cream cheese (softened)
1/2 cup sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup sour cream (optional for extra creaminess)
---Cream Cheese Frosting (Optional topping)
1/2 cup butter (softened)
225 g cream cheese
2 cups icing sugar
1 tsp vanilla

1️⃣ Make the Red Velvet Cake Layer
1. Preheat oven to 175°C.
2. Line and grease an 8-inch round cake tin.
3. In a bowl, mix all dry ingredients: flour, sugar, cocoa, salt, baking soda.
4. In another bowl, whisk oil, buttermilk, egg, vinegar, vanilla, and red colouring.
5. Combine dry + wet ingredients and mix until smooth.
6. Pour into the cake tin and bake for 20–25 minutes.
7. Cool completely.
---2️⃣ Make the Cheesecake Layer
1. Beat cream cheese and sugar until creamy.
2. Add eggs one at a time.
3. Mix in vanilla and sour cream.
4. Pour cheesecake batter over the cooled red velvet cake layer.
5. Bake again at 160°C for 45–55 minutes until the center is set.
6. Cool, then refrigerate at least 4 hours (overnight is best).
---3️⃣ Add Frosting (Optional)
1. Beat butter + cream cheese until smooth.
2. Add icing sugar + vanilla.
3. Spread or pipe on top of the chilled cheesecake.
