Corner Lane Curiosities

Corner Lane Curiosities After years of creating at Corner Lane Designs, I’m now opening the latch to the attic. I may throw in the odd handmade treasure too!

Join me at Corner Lane Curiosities as I share a curated collection of antiques, vintage gems and collectables. I love to sew pretty items for children and the home, largely inspired by my own children. I am a work from home mum and the majority of my work is sold on-line but I also make a lot of customised orders for people so please contact me if you are looking for something special - I may be able to help!

Eeeeek, I bloody love these!! I've seen them before online and drooled over them but never stumbled across them myself. Salvador Dali glasses holder. I think they are bronzed cast iron, heavy, so very cool and would look just awesome on a bookshelf!
Best bit, there were 2 of them!! So I've popped one on eBay and one on Vinted. For some bizarre reason, these are one (two!) of my favourite, happiest purchases to date!! On my shelf for me to enjoy before they find their forever home.

Just a couple of sales yesterday. I was fairly surprised that the ceramic artist sold so quickly, especially as he had a chip in the back of his smock. I was totally transparent about that flaw in the listing so the buyer knows what to expect but he still sold for £62 on eBay's global shipping programme and is off to Arizona!! These sculptures are definitely worth looking out for.

Then last night I sold that amazing 1970s tablecloth. Another fairly quick turnaround. I will definitely buy 1970s table linen when I see it as it's trending heavily right now.

Today I finally have a day at home so plan on a quick sourcing trip and then lots of photography and listing.

Sold items from the last couple of days. I was once again busy all weekend (sailing, paddleboarding, beach - awesome weekend for it!). I didn't have the time to list much stuff and zero time to go sourcing, gah all those car boots I missed!! ....but I'm happy with these sales:

1. 2 x butterscotch colour slag glass vintage shades. Had these since March so I took an offer of £40 for them.
2. Vintage Isle of Wight mug 30p ➡️ £5
3. Incredible woven 1990s throw, could be used as a rug, throw, wall hanging - really versatile.
4. Mandala throw/tablecloth/picnic/sofa.
5. Finally, all of those amazing Vintage woven silk bird pictures. They are off to 2 different homes.

Another scorcher today but I hope to get some bits photographed that have been sat in the pile for a while.

Here is the 2nd sculpture I picked up. This one was again created by master artist "Beppe Duso" and portrays an artist sat at his easel. Again, hugely delicate but still the colours remain really vibrant. Unfortunately this one has a chip at the back but it is not visible from the front and still holds significant value for collectors. I think this one is my favourite despite the flaw in it.

So, the estimated price for these on eBay is around £80 for this one with the chip and around £180 for the lovely pianist. I know I may sit on them for quite some time waiting for the right collector to find them, but that's ok as they are currently on my mantlepiece being enjoyed 😜.

Who would like to guess what I paid for them???

On Monday I went out sourcing items. I was out for just 1 hour and found some absolutely amazing treasures!! I picked up 2 sculptures by a renowned Italian ceramic studio "Lo Scricciolo" formed in the late 1950s in Milan. This is the first one, signed "Beppe" and was made by one of the founding artists 'Giuseppe "Beppe" Duso. I am absolutely stunned to have found them tbh, they date back to 1970s/80s.

These sculptures are hugely collectable and to the right person can go for £100s of pounds. Although I know they will not be everyone's cup of tea, you can still appreciate all the tiny (and oh so breakable) details. I have very gently cleaned these up with warm soapy water on a cotton wool bud to remove the decades of dust and grime and they have cleaned up beautifully ❤️

These are not destined for Vinted, but are now on eBay and I will try and get my Etsy shop sorted out to pop them on there too.

It's hubby's birthday today. I had to pop and get some eggs and whilst there I really really quickly popped into my local Severn Hospice shop and found this beautiful vintage completed tapestry. Based on the brand name this French design is from late 70s/early 80s.

It is beautifully made and in lovely muted colours ♥️

I can really envisage this in a child's bedroom so had to make a mock up of what it could look like framed so you can see the visual too (last pic).
