Do you like to work with your hands but haven’t tried hot glass? This course is tailored for creative people who want to try h o t h o t glass!🔥🔥
Join us next summer at Nuutajärvi Glass, in Finland’s oldest glass village, to explore the possibilities and limitations of working with hot glass.
Slate Grove and Helmi Remes introduce glass as part of your creative process. During this week-long intensive course, we’ll learn to gather glass from the furnace, shape it, and explore its physical properties. The program includes demonstrations, working together with the teachers, independent hotshop time, artist presentation, coldworking — and plenty of exchanging ideas with other glassblowers.
Nuutajärvi is the heart of handcrafted glass in Finland and the country’s oldest glass village. During its 230 years of continuous glassmaking tradition, many classics and legends of Nordic glass have taken shape.
Surrounded by lakes, forests, and the quiet nature, the historic glass village offers rare focus and inspiration. Long days and the nightless nights of Finnish summer create space to learn, experiment, and fall in love with hot glass.
