Building garden beds with Holland has taught me a few things.

- Children become interested when they’re included early
- They notice details we walk past.
- Growing your own food teaches more than just gardening.

It also reminded me why I’m such a doer. My folks did this stuff with me and my siblings, so now it feels natural to do it with her.

I get asked this a bit - do we miss our character homes?

Yes. Many parts of them we miss

They held a kind of cosiness you don’t quite notice until it’s gone - softened by time, by trees, by everything settling in around them.

But this home gives back in different ways.
Winter feels easier. The light carries. Summer feels longer and the shoulder seasons are much more enjoyable.

I’m not sure there’s a right answer.
Maybe it lives somewhere in between —
a home with a bit of history, and a bit of now??

have recently launched a floor cleaning range - ideal for hardwood and engineered floors (ad). A professional floor installer, dreaming up an idea following real experience after handover. Getting excited over the quality of a floor mop is something I didn’t have on my bingo card but this beauty is like driving a euro, she hugs the road, feels solid, and that spray consistency is like having a cold beer after being on the tools for a day.

I decided I’d learn about companion planting for our kitchen garden planters. It’s a pretty straight forward concept that allows the plants to work together to enrich the soil, protect each other from pests, and grow healthier and more nutrient rich plants.
