Ce petit chevet m’a vraiment fait sortir de ma zone de confort côté couleur. Vous pouvez voir à quoi il ressemblait avant sa transformation dans le premier commentaire.

Cette teinte prune est bien plus audacieuse que les couleurs que je choisis habituellement et, pendant la transformation, je me suis demandé plus d’une fois si j’avais fait le bon choix. Mais il est parfois bon de prendre un risque créatif, et le résultat final ne manque certainement pas de caractère !

Il s’agit d’une finition avancée, réalisée avec environ huit couleurs différentes, superposées et travaillées pour créer de la profondeur et obtenir cet effet riche et patiné. J’ai également réalisé et ajouté des ornements à l’aide de moules, avant de les dorer pour mettre en valeur les détails du meuble.

Huit couleurs peuvent sembler impressionnantes, mais il n’est absolument pas nécessaire d’en utiliser autant pour commencer à transformer un meuble. Chaque projet repose sur les mêmes bases essentielles : une bonne préparation, une peinture adaptée et les bons gestes pour obtenir une finition durable.

This little bedside cabinet really took me outside my usual colour comfort zone. You can see how it looked before its transformation in the first comment.

This rich plum is much bolder than the colours I would normally choose and, during the transformation, I wondered more than once whether I had made the right choice. But sometimes it is good to take a creative risk, and the finished piece certainly has character!

This was an advanced finish using around eight different colours, carefully layered and worked to create depth and achieve this rich, aged effect. I also made and applied decorative mouldings, before gilding them to highlight the details of the piece.

Eight colours may sound rather daunting, but you certainly don’t need to use that many to begin transforming furniture. Every project starts with the same essential foundations: good preparation, the right paint and knowing how to achieve a finish that will last.

Même si les températures nous donnent encore l’impression d’être en plein été, septembre est arrivé… et avec lui, l’envie de retourner à l’atelier et de préparer les prochains ateliers créatifs.

Peut-être avez-vous un meuble que vous aimeriez transformer, mais vous ne savez pas par où commencer.

Peut-être avez-vous déjà essayé le relooking de meubles et aimeriez maintenant découvrir de nouvelles techniques.

Le monde de la décoration créative offre tellement de possibilités : apprendre à préparer, peindre et protéger correctement un meuble, découvrir tout ce que l’on peut créer avec les tampons décoratifs, donner du relief avec les moules, s’initier au découpage… et surtout prendre le temps d’expérimenter et de créer dans une ambiance conviviale.

Je prépare actuellement le programme des prochains mois, avec le retour de certains de vos ateliers préférés, d’autres techniques à découvrir et, bien sûr, les ateliers créatifs de Noël.

Il y aura des formules de 3 à 4 heures ainsi que des journées complètes, selon les projets.

Avant de vous dévoiler les dates, j’aimerais beaucoup savoir ce qui vous tenterait le plus : apprendre à transformer un meuble de A à Z, découvrir les tampons et les moules décoratifs, vous lancer dans le découpage ou participer à un atelier de Noël ?

🇬🇧 Although the weather still feels very much like summer, September has arrived and I’m looking forward to returning to the atelier and planning the workshops for the coming months.

Some of the most popular courses will be returning, alongside other techniques to discover and, of course, our Christmas workshops. There will be a choice of three-to-four-hour workshops and full creative days.

Perhaps you’re completely new to furniture upcycling and would love to learn how to transform a piece properly from start to finish. Or perhaps you already paint furniture and would like to explore techniques such as decorative stamps, moulds or découpage.

Yes, you read that right! The new IOD Christmas stock will be in my hands by Monday 10th August. I think this might be the quickest I’ve ever received a new IOD release! ❤️

I’ll be getting straight to work on your pre-orders, with parcels being packed and dispatched between Wednesday and Friday.

If you haven’t seen the Christmas Release video yet, don’t worry. I’ll be sharing images of all the gorgeous new moulds, transfers and stamps here on the page over the weekend, so you can have a proper look at everything.

A little reminder though — IOD Christmas stock is limited, and many of the designs are seasonal limited releases. Once they’re gone, they may not be available again.

🎄 The wait is almost over… the NEW IOD Winter Collection launches on 6th August! 🎄

I’ve already placed my pre-order, and I can honestly say there are some absolutely stunning designs in this release. There are so many must-haves, and I already have lots of ideas for this year’s Christmas workshops! ✨

🍂 The Art of Gilding — Gold, Silver & Copper Leaf
Monday 1st June | 1.30 to 5.30 pm | €60
A hands-on introduction to working with metal leaf. You will learn how to apply gold, silver, and copper leaf using traditional techniques, and how different finishes can create soft, aged, or time-worn effects. No experience needed. You will leave with three gilded pieces and the confidence to use the technique at home.

✦ Impressions in Paint — Surface & Pattern with IOD Paint Inlays
Thursday 4th June | 1.30 to 5.30 pm | €70
Paint Inlays are unlike transfers or decoupage — the design is made from real paint and becomes part of the surface. This workshop walks you through the full process in a calm, unhurried way, from placement and lifting to reuse. Suitable for all levels. You will leave with two decorative pieces and the skills to take the technique straight to furniture at home.
Both workshops include all materials, coffee, and homemade cake. Maximum 6 participants.
