Most people think interior designers spend their days choosing cushions.

It is very far from the truth. On a daily basis, I deal with a supplier delivering the wrong finish four days before installation, a contractor on site needing a call on the electrical layout, or a client in London who is having budget questions.

None of these decisions reached the client’s inbox. The photos you see at the end of a project are the result of hundreds of moments like these; quiet, unglamorous, and completely invisible.

And that is why I love my job.

I worked on a project for 9 months but the client was involved for a total of 4 hours.

Not because she didn’t care. Because she trusted me completely. One briefing at the start. Two check-ins along the way. One final walkthrough at delivery. That was it.

In a record time, the space was finished. Really finished. Not « almost there. » Done. Exactly as we had envisioned it at the beginning of our partnership.

This was her feedback at the end: “I hired Yasmine B. Design to completely redesign the decoration of my apartment, and the result exceeded all my expectations! With an expert eye for modern trends and full respect for my personal style, she transformed the space into a bright and elegant cocoon, perfectly meeting both the budget and the timeline. Thank you for this exceptional makeover.”

That’s my job. That’s what 360° actually means.

I believe rugs should complete a space, but not overwhelm it. For this project in Paris 7th, every rug was custom designed :
1) the entrance rug: shaped to echo the mirror above it, in a slightly oblong shape.
2) the living room is a large 26 sq.m. rug in abstract shades matching the furniture,
3) the dining room , being very close to the living room, would have felt very heavy if went for a different pattern or colour. I decided to go for the same rug, but instead of a standard rectangle shape, we had it cut along the exact shape of the dining table, using a cutting template.
4) the hallway rug is cut around the radiator, to keep the linear view all along
5) the bedroom rugs were adapted in colour and size to the exact shades of the walls and bed-linens.

Hand knotted and in the best silk, bamboo or wool (sometimes all combined) and in a pile height that feels plush and so warm under your feet. Rugs strongly contributes to the luxurious feel of a space.

Hiam Demeulenaere is a Paris-based, Lebanese-born artist I represent, and whose work I keep coming back to. I am particularly fond of her sculptures “qui font beaucoup d’effet” as we say in French.
This series of feminine silhouettes resonates with me, and works so well in Parisian backdrops. It is present yet quite discreet, almost watching over us. Powerful yet demure.

Hiam has spent a lifetime drawing, engraving, painting, sculpting. It shows in the quiet confidence of every piece.

A clear brief, and a long list of constraints.

A 1-bedroom apartment that needed to become a comfortable 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom layout, with a separate guest WC, a relocated kitchen, and hidden storage throughout. All of it coordinated remotely for a Dubai-based client who approved every material and finish without setting foot in Paris.

This is where every project starts for me. Before the furniture, before the finishes, before anything is decided: the space as it is. Cold, blank, full of potential.

From there: full renovation, full furnishing, full coordination with plumbing, electricity, heating, flooring, masonry, dropped ceilings, tiling. And through it all, a personal wish : the view of the Haussmannian façades and the large trees outside had to remain the focal point.

The result is warm and deliberately Contemparisian; including a vintage mirror-wall that adds charm and pulls light deep into the space.

One of the questions I get asked a lot is if I work alone. I don’t, but my team doesn’t look like most studios.

On this photo, Shilan, Laura and I are researching textiles for a project in Paris 16th.

Everyone around me is a freelancer. Each person has their own strengths, their own preferred angles in design. Some are exceptional at layouts. Others are logistics wizards. Some thrive in showrooms, others would rather never speak to a contractor, and that’s perfectly fine.

What holds us together isn’t exclusivity. It’s loyalty. Freedom and loyalty are not opposites. They’re what make a team actually work.

It takes time to learn how to get the best out of people; to know when to let someone lead and when to step in, when to challenge and when to trust. That knowledge comes from showing up, project after project, together.

I also learned to enjoy how interns bring something no one else can: a fresh-out-of-school energy that keeps the studio alive. This Summer, I am happy to have Jade by my side.

The best spaces come from the best collaborations.

What most people won’t see or know is that this fireplace comes from a flea market, and an artist painted the marble at its base to blend it into this apartment.

That’s exactly the point of my work.

In this project in Paris 6th arrondissement, the original fireplace was dark and not worth keeping. To keep with the original spirit of the place, we decided to retain a chimney nevertheless : a vintage one was sourced at “les Puces” with the right proportions. An artist worked a trompe l’oeil on the base, so it would read as if it had always been there. Around it: we restored the wall panelling, introduced a lighter palette, designed the custom bookshelves that gave the room structure without erasing its character.

This is a big part of what I do; not just decorating a Parisian apartment, but restoring its Parisian feeling. The details that make it look like it was never touched are often the ones that took the most work.

What matters the most ?

I studied at the London College of Fashion, Central Saint Martins and Chelsea College of Art. I have been designing interiors for over 12 years, in Paris, Dubai, Milan, London, Brussels, Normandy, the South of France...

But what actually defines my work is not the cities or the credentials. It’s the approach.
My career started in luxury fashion, I have always been exposed to luxury travel and hospitality, and to the challenges of setting up a home in a new country, I understand the needs of discerning clients.

So, I provide a white-glove approach: taking on full projects and giving my clients the peace of mind they wish for.
From the first brief to the final styling. I am the single point of contact, managing every detail in-between so my clients never have to. The floor plans, the contractors, the sourcing, the coordination. All of it, and beyond.

95% of my clients are based abroad. They trust me to handle a Paris renovation from a distance, completely, and deliver something they love walking into.

From flat lay to reality : can you project yourself?

The flat lay tells the story before the space does.

I already have it all in my mind as I conceive a project. but it’s important to piece it together visually for the client and even for the trades - they can anticipate better the textures and finishes they will be dealing with in the months to come. And anticipation is one of the recipes for success.
