Miao tassel rings, also known as “swing rings,” are a traditional form of Miao silver jewelry known for their sense of movement.

Delicate silver tassels hang beneath the ring, swaying softly with the motion of the hand and creating a subtle sound when worn. Traditionally, the movement and sound were also believed to help ward off bad spirits.

More than ornament, these rings are designed to move with the body — becoming part of gesture, rhythm, and daily life. In our interpretation, this tassel structure is preserved, allowing the piece to remain light, kinetic, and alive in movement.

Silver that belongs to the Miao people appears in festivals and weddings, then returns to everyday life, becoming part of daily existence.

This time, we carried that kind of silver a little farther into the world. It travels across great distances to meet horsehair in Chile and silk in Morocco, taking root once again in new creations.

For the past two years, CUNZU has continued collaborating with horsehair weaving artisans in Chile, South America. In every jewelry collection, the woven elements are all handcrafted by them. The horsehair, slowly combed and woven on quiet prairie afternoons, travels across great distances to meet Miao filigree craftsmanship, taking root once again in new creations.🐎

silver brings structure and restraint. horsehair moves more freely, never fully controlled. silk softens the space in between.

Through making, adjusting, and spending time with these materials, they slowly begin to find a balance together.

This collection is about that process — how different materials, histories, and gestures can meet, while still holding onto where they come from.
