A passion for birchbark: an old Siberian handicraft meets contemporary design. By Anastasiya Koshcheeva

We are truly honoured to have been selected for The Art of Making 2026, an exceptional exhibition held at the historic Petit Palais in Paris from 24 February to 1 March 2026.

Across 300 m², the exhibition will present a tribute to 100 years of creative craftsmanship from Paris and Berlin and showcase works by selected designers and artisans from both cities. The show is initiated by the Chamber of Crafts Île-de-France, in cooperation with the City of Paris, the Petit Palais, and the Berlin Chamber of Crafts.

The Art of Making invites visitors on a journey through a century of stylistic and formal developments in the applied arts. Each object offers a contemporary interpretation of a chosen historical period. The Art of Making 2026 highlights works that combine traditional techniques with new materials, technologies, and sustainable thinking.

From around 2010 onwards, an increasing use of innovative, sustainable materials and a growing fusion of craft, design, and art can be observed. It is precisely this era that our latest development represents: the multiple award-winning chair MORE, building a bridge between Paris and Berlin, Art, Craft and Design.

Super honored to announce, that our latest work will be part of the ‚The Art of Making‘ show at Kunstgewerbemuseum during the next two months. Come and see our new chair design among other outstanding works by talented artisans from Berlin and Paris.

As part of the European Days of Arts and Crafts (ETAK), the Art of Making exhibition brings together craftspeople from Berlin and Paris, being part of the German French friendship. The exhibition, which is set to move between the two cities, showcases the broad spectrum of technical craftsmanship and inventiveness, and provides a comprehensive survey of contemporary arts and crafts in both locations. From eccentric pieces of furniture and intricate items of jewellery to artfully designed ceramics, the diversity of the featured exhibits is testament to the fact that true craftsmanship extends far beyond a simple appreciation for tradition.

And here it is, one of our latest projects that we will be doing more of in the future.

In collaboration with a visionary real estate project management company from Berlin, we have been working on a chair concept for the last 2.5 years that combines functionality and sustainability. The result is an outstanding statement of sophisticated design and first-class comfort, which will be used in exclusive long-stay apartments, conference rooms and co-working spaces.

more is more than a chair. With its precise lines and three-dimensional weave made from birch bark, the chair pushes the limits of what is possible and celebrates craftsmanship to the fullest extent.

Wood is a material deeply rooted in the human history and culture. Incorporating wood elements at home can evoke a sense of connection to traditions, heritage, and craftsmanship.

At the same time, we combine tradition with modern design, bright colours and contrasting shapes.

It was very important for me to create a team, that shares my values. At Moya, we believe that our future lies in sustainability and responsibility. Not only for our employees but for all life on Earth. We believe we have to change our habits and rethink consumption and values to preserve our planet as a home worth living for our children, grandchildren, and all the generations to come. We believe every single one of us should be able to support a family and live a healthy and fulfilled life from honest work.

Our mission is to establish birch bark as a new renewable raw material. With this we not only create sustainable design concepts and use the unique properties of the bark, but also revitalize an endangered craft.

Hi! My name is Anastasia Koshcheeva and i founded MOYA Birch Bark in Berlin in 2018. Working with natural materials, especially with birch bark, is my passion. I have a deep connection to birch bark since I was a child.

I have been combining millennia-old craftsmanship with clear modern design since 2012 and have received multiple awards for my work. In 2019 I was supported by EXIST Business Startup Grant. Sometimes I give lectures and workshops about sustainability, creative entrepreneurship, craft and design. I am very proud to have been featured in many publications about my company and my work. My company employed more than 10 people in the last two years. At the moment I am updating the company and creating a new development strategy.

As a woman entrepreneur, I would love to have different collaborations with woman business owners too. I'm open for new collaborations and am looking forward to receiving your messages 😉.
