Ta-daa! All plants in, can't wait to see them grow, fill out and bring more colour and interest to the garden. There are many varieties for pollinators included. So hopefully a few more bees and butterflies settling in next year. Thanks again to Farmyard Nurseries for growing such good quality plants.

Galanthus (snowdrop) bulb propagation. These were segmented in July/August and have been kept warm and dark. Today they are ready to be gently potted into their new home.

Look at the size of these apples!! certainly a record for me as I'm no apple expert. sadly don't know which variety this is. Anybody have pointers?

New beds coming along nicely, despite the everlasting drought and hosepipe ban we had this summer.

My assistant gardener collecting sticks for measuring a new border 😉 We'll then install the Husqvarna cable 20cm of the edge, so the robot mower is not going to fall in. Double dug and mulched it will be ready for planting soon.

Pear rust or Gymnosporangium sabinae in latin, is a fungal disease which needs not only a pear tree as a host but also needs a juniper tree. during winter it survives on the evergreen juniper which spreads the fungus onto nearby pear trees in spring, excreting an orange slime and releasing airborne spores. The only non-chemical way to control this disease is by removing hosting junipers from the neighbourhood. Pruning affected pear leaves will sadly only weaken the pear, but not helping the issue.
