When I’m not in the studio weaving stories, I’m out in the world helping others to tell theirs. Here’s a short interview with me from the In Our Hands project I work on for Applied Arts Scotland - a most joyful experience where I get to learn from enthusiastic and engaged humans about ways we can make the world a better place 💚

There’s a new blog post section on my website, with the inaugural post now published. Read all about the inspiration behind, making of and exhibition of my latest work, DIY OR DIE.

With musings on text and textile, experimentation, dilapidation, street art, DIY subculture and travel, among other things, it’s a guaranteed page-turner of a five-minute read 😁

What a glorious session this was yesterday!

When I run workshops, they’re focused on trying something new and approaching it with curiosity and excitement, creating a hook into making for folk with different skills, experiences and likes. Yesterday’s group were a fabulous example of just how effective this approach is - building confidence to try, to experiment and to learn.

If you’re interested in this approach and getting me along to your group/workplace to run a workshop (one-off or a series), then don’t hesitate to get in touch with me here.

And if you’re interested in the fabulous and valuable work that ADA do, don’t hesitate to reach out to them ❤️

This work - and lots of other gorgeous ones - are being sold to raise funds for The Barn, an arts venue in Banchory, Aberdeenshire that makes art in all its forms accessible to the community of NE Scotland, with a particular focus on ecology and its relationship with art and community.

This work was created especially for the exhibition, and is a response to ideas discussed during an artist residency I undertook with The Barn. They offer wonderful support in so many ways, so please do support them in any way you can 💚

Have you seen this yet? A wonderful art fundraiser for The Barn - check it out in person or online.

For the past two Friday mornings, I’ve had the most fun learning collagraphy printmaking with Fiona Chance at Snug project space in Aberdeen city centre. This has been a fabulous opportunity to play with texture using my woven textiles and fibres/yarns, and to begin thinking about how to layer information through both weaving and printmaking.

If you’ve been paying attention, you’ll have heard me banging on about how weaving is “in my DNA”, from my mum’s side of the family. Well guess what my dad apprenticed and worked in before newspapers went more technological…? Yup, printmaking!!

So here’s me starting to play with thinking around how both weaving and printing are in my DNA ❤️

Creative play - everyone should make time for this!
