Hello World!

I'm Pitfichie Castle. Remember me? Well, here is some of the beautiful countryside that surrounds me, including Paradise Woods, The River Don and Bennachie (The Mother Mountain of Aberdeenshire). I am sending All the Special Magic that is here to Everyone for a Wonderful Christmas and New Year with All My Love and Huge Castle Hugs and also from Colin my owner.

I would like to thank the lovely and very skilful people at Aeroglen for their permission to use the aerial photograph of Pitfichie Castle.

Hello World! I'm Pitfichie Castle - I'm 16th century and my owner Colin Wood the Aberdeen antique dealer said that he wants to show me off to all of you because he says I'm so exciting! He should know because he and his craftsmen friends took eight years to restore me and I must admit I feel great! So love from me (Pitfichie that is) to all of you ###x

Hi everyone - today I'm sharing with you a very recent purchase. It's one of the nicest Arts and Crafts period hallstands I've seen for a long while. Why? you ask! I'll tell you why! Small proportions - super condition - original colour - a little feel of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. It's 'all in one piece' but I've shown two photos one on the top and one of the base so you can see the detail. It even has carved thistles! So made in Scotland C.1900. What more could you ask for? :-)

I found a better image of the Kings College etching and wanted to share it with you so that you can see the fine detail.

I know how much so many of you love the West Coast of Scotland and a recent acquisition for Colin Wood Antiques is this unique early work by English artist Richard Arled a man with a passion for Scotland and the West Coast. Painted in the summer of 1972 it is "The Boatyard at Mallaig" (next to the harbour) I think it is an inspired work and really captures a magical moment with a glimpse of the sparkling sea in Mallaig - that beautiful place at the end of "The Road To The Isles" from where many of you will have taken the ferry to The Isle of Skye!

I Hope you love the painting as much as I do 🙂

Hi everyone!

coming from a seafaring background I couldnt resist the item (new to my shop) which I am going to share with you today. It's an original early 20th century brass BULPITT ship's cabin light complete with original oil lamp. It's a great original piece in super condition. It has been lovingly cleaned for many years and has a surface as smooth as silk. But what kind of ship did it belong to - not far away from the days of the Great Titanic!(of which I once had a deck plan!) But my brass lamp - food for the imagination! A stormy sea, the the lamp flickering in the days when there were brave ships and men were really men!! :-)

Yours, Colin Wood Ltd.

Happy Easter Everyone!

Although the item I'm sharing with you today is not an Easter subject! Nevertheless, I hope you will like it. I love it! Hands up all Laurence of Arabia fans? It's one of my favourite films. My new acquisition at COLIN WOOD ANTIQUES is an original oil painting of Camels in the desert, with armed riders. I am advised it could be "The Tuareg" a nomadic tribe who are the principal inhabitants of The Saharan Desert. It is such a strong and at the same time very decorative painting. I'm on the track of a Moroccan style frame for it.

Size of the painting is (unframed): 63cm x 52cm.

Best to you all.

Colin
