Make do and mend at Snowdonia wool.
I have a favourite cardigan which was made from a sweater. It’s an easy adaptation, especially if you add matching material to change the edging and cuffs. It’s now had some patches and sewing added to hide holes and a mark. Not bad for a 30 year old sweater. Up cycle rather than throw away and create something new.

D Day 80 to commemorate June 6th Snowdonia Wool is celebrating the ideas behind ‘make do and mend’. Like today, people then, were thinking about a joint effort to manage in hard times. To make sure that fabrics and materials were available for the war effort, people were recycling and reusing as much as possible.
Today the environment is at risk from all the materials we are using. Conwy Council is doing much to recycle and we can also help by recycling and repairing things before we throw them away.
This week the shop window and these posts will explore a few ways to repair and reuse fabrics.
Thank you to Mayor Cllr Diane Green for encouraging us all to take time to remember the heroism and sacrifices made that day in Normandy.
