What a summer it has been for the Light Em Up team! ☀️🎬💡
We began by streaming and recording Aberystwyth University’s graduation ceremonies—an event we’re always incredibly proud to support and look forward to every year.
From there, we moved straight on to the Royal Welsh Show, working alongside Technegol Ltd to deliver lighting and video for the main Young People’s Village. We also installed lighting and rigging in the White Horse bar in Builth Wells. It was brilliant to work with the Technegol team and contribute to such a major event in the Welsh calendar.
With very little time to rest, we then headed to the National Eisteddfod of Wales, where our team installed and supported creative lighting across the non-broadcast areas of the site.
This included multiple stages and lighting-control packages across the Maes, as well as providing lighting, video and operators for Maes B. We also provided the lighting and lighting design for the Eisteddfod’s brilliant street-theatre production, Mari Hwyr.
The growth of Light Em Up over the past five years has been incredible. In our earlier years, we relied heavily on sub-hired equipment to deliver projects of this scale. Following major investment in our own lighting, video, control and production equipment, it’s extremely rewarding to now deliver events like these predominantly from our own stock.
But our growth is about far more than equipment. We’re incredibly proud to create opportunities for local people to enter the events industry, develop their skills and work on major productions across Wales and further afield.
Training people, sharing knowledge and watching our team grow into skilled, confident technicians is a huge part of what Light Em Up stands for—especially here in rural Wales.
A massive thank you to our crew, freelancers, clients, suppliers and production partners who made another fantastic summer possible. 🙌
