It’s all about the details and the experience. Like anything, the more you do it the better you get at it.
That is why my cookie cutters have a little bath of water to ensure the cut is clean and I smooth edges to reduce the sanding, because let’s be honest who likes sanding?

Within your job, what part do you least enjoy?

Thank you for the reminder!

Christmas in June is quite a thing when you run a small business and I am sure I am not the only one to have started working on the Christmas collection. This year is set to be flamboyant to say the least with tinsel making a come back! Not ideal to incorporate when you endeavour to be ecologically conscious but I have rescued the gold tinsel from my Mother-in-Law!

To tinsel or not to tinsel? Where do you stand?

A new month means a new birthday list and joyous occasions to be celebrated. Here’s a small selection of handmade gifts for you.

I don’t know about you but I love it when a new month starts on a Monday. There is a magical synergy about it and this following a wonderful half term feels like the perfect reset button! It is time to crush those goals and tackle my never ending (hardly started) to-do list.

One of my favourite chats on the podcast so far with lovely Sandrine from A twig’s tale

This week's episode is out now and it's number 40 (I can't believe it's been nearly a whole year of podcasting!)

Originally from France and now living in the UK, with time also spent living in Germany, Sandrine shares her fascinating experience of gifting across different cultures.

We talk about her intentional approach to creating her gifts, from the carefully chosen materials she works with to the personal touches that make her creations feel extra special.

One phrase from our conversation has stayed with me: “I see you, I gift you.” For Sandrine, gifting is not necessarily about birthdays or specific celebrations. She loves to gift when she sees people as a way of showing appreciation, joy thoughtfulness, simply because she can.

Have a listen on you prefered platform - search 'Greener Gifting Gang' to find it.

Embossing clay in itself is not a complicated task but it is all about the results. Stamp with clean tools to avoid transferring debris that will leave mark in the clay and affect the finish look. Practice the depth so the base does not get pierced and finally gently flatten the area for a smoother transition between the embossing and the rest of the clay.

Follow for more tips and behind the scenes information.

This is phase 2 of making clay gifts and ornaments. It’s all about the rolling. The aim is to flatten the clay evenly.
It sounds easy but there is some key techniques that have a purpose to ensure the finished piece is of best quality.

I use Das air dry clay.

Follow and come back for Stage 2.

Kneading can be hard work but it is a great stress relief and a good workout. The reward is a smooth, pliable and air bubble free clay and ultimately a nicer finished product.

Celebrating 2 Mother‘s day this month.
Today is Muttertag in Germany where my daughter was born and at the end of May will be la Fête des Mères in France where my son was born.🤍
And since we live in the UK, I also celebrate Mothering Sunday in March. Tell me this is perfectly acceptable.
