Millets Farm

Millets Farm A farm centre in the heart of Oxfordshire with a Farm Shop, Restaurants, Play Park, Animals & more
(1932)

Millets Farm is a family run business by two brothers and has been a working farm since the 1970’s. It has grown from a simple pick your own farm into a bustling Farm Centre, which hosts a Farm Shop, PYO fields, Animal Walkway, Adventure Golf Course, Indoor Soft Play 'Sprouts Playbarn', Play Area, Woodland Walks, Garden Centre, Seasonal Events and Restaurants plus independent shops on site from in

teriors, beauty, garden buildings, conservatories, walking trips and handmade items! Our farm shop is well known for stocking a vast variety of local products and a large range of Millets Home-grown produce. Throughout the Spring/Summer months Millets produces and sells a range of herbs, asparagus, spinach and plentiful soft fruit such as raspberries, strawberries and blackcurrants. When Autumn/Winter arrives, hardy fruit and vegetables such as leeks, carrots and apples are grown on the farm. We have our own busy butchery, bakery and deli counters, stocking a range of local and homemade produce. By stocking products from local companies and farms as much as possible, Millets strives to support their local producers, a belief at the core of the company. Enjoy your visit to Millets Farm time and time again... we are open all year round!

We stopped by Holts in Evesham to help the Farm Shop team collect this weeks fresh tomato order 🍅

How impressive are these plants?! They’ve been growing tomatoes for over 40 years, so it’s no wonder that they’re absolute pros at it!

Straight from the vines and into the Farm Shop they go 🚜

We're now well into Asparagus season... did you know the Asparagus season is very short? Only about 8 weeks. Grown right here at Millets, hand picked every morning and delivered straight to the Farm Shop, our Asparagus is as fresh as it gets.

An Asparagus patch takes about three years to establish and the crowns stay in the ground year round. Once the sun comes out and the ground warms the spears start to grow. Now we are well into the season the spears are cut early in the morning and they regrow quickly during the day and are ready to be cut again the next morning.

If you continue to cut your Asparagus for too long, you risk damaging the crop for future years and so in June the spears are left to grow into tall, leafy "ferns". These ferns perform photosynthesis, creating carbohydrates that are transferred down into the roots to fuel next year's crop. Allowing the plant to "rest" for the remainder of the summer ensures larger, juicier shoots and a productive bed that can last for 20 years!

Did you know we manually mark out the maze pathways ourselves every year? With some fabulous helpers, Chloe and Helen headed out into the field armed with a plan and some markers earlier this week. Next up, the team will spray the pathways to stop the maize growing any further, leaving the rest of the field to grow and reveal this years epic maze!

(Sharing our team notes here so we are held accountable next year… “RESCHEDULE maze marking out if the planned date falls on a record breaking hot day” 🫠)
