In March we had a customer with a brick fireplace that wrapped around three sides of their chimney breast and extended with a TV shelf.

They wanted to take up less space in the room but keep their existing stove. However, their chimney breast was only 1060mm wide.

For this job we were able to utilise the made to measure service at Capital Fireplaces Ltd who worked with us to create a bespoke Astwick mantel in Aegean limestone.
All the way through the process, they made sure that all the measurements were correct and so the installation day went smoothly.

The inner and outer hearths were supplied by Worcestershire Marble in honed granite.

Another week, another Fireplace Friday.

A few weeks ago we took on a three day job removing an old brick fireplace, extending the chimney breast and installing a new gas fire and fireplace.

The fire chosen was the Angelo Celena suite by The Collection by Michael Miller - British Fire Manufacturers. This version came with the black granite hearth and backpanel.

In our showroom we have the option with the suite all in limestone and the fire is on live display. Why not pop in for a demonstration?

May saw us installing a woodburning stove for a customer in an extension that had no chimney. The room felt colder than the rest of the house during the initial home visit and so definitely benefits from the additonal heat.

The stove chosen was the Explorer C5 by Bristol Stove Company. This product comes with the option of a direct air kit which allowed us to provide air to the stove without the need of external air bricks.

The hearth was cut from polished by the always impressive Worcestershire Marble.

As there was no chimney, we constructed a twin wall flue system by Poujoulat UK. These extremely high quality flues work amazingly and are, in our opinion, the best in the industry.

In March we took a complete blank canvas in Oxford, where a customer was undertaking a complete renovation of their home.

Due to a potential issue with the chimney, we installed an Orbis Plus gas fire by Gas Fires into a starter box. This allowed us to seal the fire to a gas liner which was supplied to us by .

The fireplace itself is a Henley by Worcestershire Marble. The mantel was created with Turkish limestone, and the hearth and backpanel were produced from smooth Italian slate.

March of this year saw us go out to take replace a very traditional gas fire with something more modern and clean lined.

Looking at the original fire and fireplace, the textured marble, white wooden mantel and heat plate in on the hearth all pointed to the products having been installed when the house was originally built.

We replaced these with a Celena gas fire by The Collection by Michael Miller - British Fire Manufacturers and a made to measure Lingwood fireplace by Capital Fireplaces Ltd in Aegean limestone.

Due to its efficency, we also fitted a gas liner into the chimney supplied by

If you look at the last photo you can see the customers ridge tiles which made it impossible to use our ridge ladders for access to the chimney. This was another job where helped us out with a MEWP.

Recently we went out to see a customer who wanted to replace an existing open Jetmaster gas fire with a solid fuel stove.

Upon inspection we noticed that their LPG bottles were not installed safely and were not even chained to the wall, so it was a good job they decided to change the fire out.

We installed to very modern and easy to use R4 wooodburning stove by Hunter Stoves Group. The hearth and slips (frame to protect the wall from the heat) were cut and supplied by Worcestershire Marble in smooth Italian slate.

The chimney was difficult to access for this one and so we hired a MEWP from the ever reliable

Another job from mid-May.

We removed an open fire in a home that was going through a full, top to bottom, renovation. The owners wanted to keep the smaller proportions and so chose the Deddington by Worcestershire Marble in a Fiorito Bianco marble.

For the fire, they chose the Orbis HE by Verine Gas Fires with a gold and black Arcadia fascia. The addition of a full sequential remote control will make this fire easy and convenient to use.

Happy .

In the middle of May we were employed to completely change a customers fireplace.

They had a lovely original cast iron open fireplace, unfortunately it had served its purpose and no longer worked with the rooms decor.

We fitted a new mantel, a 54" Washington in Aegean limestone, with a Coral fire basket and a Rusty Slate chamber, all from the excellent Capital Fireplaces Ltd

Marble supplied the honed granite hearth pieces.

Usually we do not like working with open fires as they are inefficient, really bad for the environment, and you cannot guarantee that they will draw well. The customer only planned to use the fire very occasionally and it drew fantastically.

The transformation really shows the difference a fireplace can make as a focal point.
