📣 5mx4m STUDIO available shortly in the FISK Gallery building! It's a lovely bright room on the ground floor with French doors, two windows, ample power points, heating, nature-identical lighting, sink, shelving - it's a multi-use space as office, or art/craft studio/workshop. Direct access through internal door to small, shared kitchen area and the rest of the building. Can agree some Gallery supervision in place of rent or similar flexible arrangement- to be discussed. Stunning new things in stock from strictly LOCAL makers…we’re loving Cathy MacNeilage’s box-framed “Tiny Tapestries” - little jewels of local scenes. Lots of books by local writers; colourful and original cards; Cathy Holms’ beautiful wire stone wraps, jewellery and ephemeral dragonfly wire sculptures; Gerry Irvine’s stunning pictures; Jan Kilpatrick’s original textile ‘paintings’; Steve Husband’s tactile woodwork; Tarnia Gracie’s sea-pottery pendants, fab prints and cards; tweed cushions; Ali Mac Candles’ glorious scented candles and diffusers-some in hand-thrown pots by Fergus Stewart…lots to browse in the Vintage room, too!
Tea, coffee and cake in The Bothan nearby (Mon-Fri) or lunch at Fuaran bar restaurant or Coigach Kitchen. 🎉FISK closing at 1pm today Friday 24th as we are all joining in the celebrations for the opening of the An Lorg monument to the local women in the 1850s who resisted the attempts of the landowner at that time to largely clear the area of people to run more profitable sheep over the land. These women, while the men of the area were mostly away fishing, made heroic and successful resistances and the An Lorg monument will celebrate their efforts for as long as the standing stones, hand cut from local shoreline rock, remain looking out over the sea below.

Here at FISK we love a collaboration of local artisans! Candlemaker Alison and Master Potter Fergus have brought their talents together again in these stunning sets: beautiful salt-glazed pots ready to fill with a bottle of Ali's scented diffuser liquids. A range of subtly-glazed pots with interchangeable diffuser aromas. Just gorgeous. (Limited firings of Fergus' hand-built kilns, means we sold out totally last year.) Achiltibanksy? It's a war-torn world and FISK resident ceramicist Lesley Muir has created a range of 25cm plates called "IF ONLY" intending to donate £20 from each plate sold split equally between the British Red Cross and Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) who both work to alleviate suffering and injury round the world. Each plate shows a tank firing flowers, butterflies etc rather than deadly munitions. If only!
The plates cost £25 each and each is a one off hand painted design, signed and stamped Summer Isles Studio. Happy to post out of course. Just call or message.

FISK is open every day, showing more locally-made things than ever! Catch Cathy MacNeilage's Gorgeous Gull mats and Tiny Tapestries before they fly out the door. Lizzie Williams' fascinating book about life on Tanera Mor (sold in support of Highland Hospice funds) is available here - happy to post out.
Cathy Holms' marine-themed jewellery and Jan Kilpatrick's carefully stitched originals all available now, together with rather different locally-designed cards and postcards. Good selection of Gabriel Moyne's unique Sgian Dubh and chef's knives too.
