Want to see what mysteries are inside your curtains 🪡
Well only the special curtains that are hand sewn when made by professional soft furnishers, using traditional techniques decades old.
This is a herringbone stitch and one of our favourites.
🪡 What is it used for?
* Securing hems by hand without visible stitches on the front
* Attaching interlining to curtain hems and side returns
* Holding layers of fabric together while allowing flexibility
* Creating a strong yet slightly elastic stitch that moves with the fabric
* Finishing upholstery and decorative soft furnishing details
✨ Why is it so useful?
Unlike machine stitching, a herringbone stitch is almost invisible from the face of the fabric. It provides excellent support while maintaining a soft, professional finish, making it ideal for luxury curtains, Roman blinds, and hand-finished furnishings.
💡 Professional Tip:
Because the stitch crosses over itself, it distributes tension evenly and helps prevent puckering, especially on heavier fabrics and interlined curtains
