17th-Century Northern European Oak Cupboard, c.1670–1700

A substantial late 17th-century oak cupboard with a single panelled door, bold geometric mouldings and a simple shelved interior.

Dating to around 1670–1700, it retains a wonderfully aged dark surface with the marks, wear and old repairs you would expect from more than 300 years of use.

Late Victorian / Edwardian oak and marble bedside cabinet, dating to around 1890–1910.

Made in oak with a white marble top, single drawer, open shelf and lower cupboard, with distinctive geometric detailing to the drawer front and sides and fluted decoration to the supports.

A practical piece of antique furniture with plenty of character, equally useful today as a bedside cabinet, side table or lamp table.

An impressive pair of large late 19th-century French patinated régule figures, signed Defer and traditionally identified as Sir Walter Raleigh and Vasco da Gama.

Dating to around 1890 and standing 63cm high, each is finely modelled in elaborate historical costume with detailed clothing, weaponry and plumed headwear. Both retain a dark bronze-effect patination and their original turned ebonised wooden bases.

The traditional identities have not been independently confirmed, although the Raleigh attribution is consistent with the figure’s Elizabethan costume. Other historical régule sculptures signed Defer are recorded in French museum collections.

A handsome pair of British Arts & Crafts oak rocking armchairs, dating to around 1900–1920.

Made in solid oak, each chair has shaped ladder-back rails with a carved quatrefoil detail, broad arms and gently curved rockers.

A great pair of substantial period chairs.

Campbell’s Curiosities is heading across the water! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇮🇪

This September I’ll be taking the van over to Northern Ireland to trade at the very first Great Antiques Fair at Larchfield Estate, a brand-new two-day destination event bringing together antiques, interiors and decorative pieces in the beautiful surroundings of Larchfield Estate.

I’ll be packing the van with a great selection of antiques, furniture, decorative salvage and curiosities for the trip.

It’s always exciting to be part of something new, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what promises to be a fantastic weekend for dealers, collectors, interior lovers and anyone who simply enjoys finding something a little different.

Campbell’s Curiosities is heading back to Paxton House Antiques & Decorative Fair this September!

📍 Paxton House, Berwick-upon-Tweed
📅 4th–6th September

I’ll be bringing along a fresh selection of antiques, furniture, curiosities and decorative pieces — plenty of new finds making their first trip out with me.

If you love antiques, interiors, unusual pieces or simply enjoy a good rummage, come along and say hello. There’ll be plenty to see from dealers coming together from across the country in the beautiful setting of Paxton House.

Hopefully I’ll see a few familiar faces there!

WE’RE BACK OPEN! 🙌

After a couple of weekends away at the fairs, Campbell’s Curiosities is back open today 10am–4pm.

There’s loads of new stock just arrived, so plenty of fresh antiques and vintage pieces to have a rummage through.

And, of course, the coffee machine is on and the cakes are ready — including everyone’s favourites, chocolate brownies and cherry slices. ☕🍰

The greenest piece of furniture you’ll ever buy… is already 200 years old.

This week I’m packing the van for the Errol Antiques & Vintage Fair, and every piece going in has already lived a lifetime.

Think about that for a moment.

Long before flat-pack furniture, before disposable homeware and before “fast interiors”, these pieces were being built by skilled craftspeople to last. Many have outlived the people who made them, the people who first owned them, and every generation since.

And they’re still here.

Still beautiful.
Still useful.
Still worthy of another home.

Imagine if we all chose just one antique or vintage piece instead of buying something new. A dining table that’s already seen two centuries of family meals. A chair with the wear of generations. A cabinet that has travelled through history to become part of your story.

These aren’t just old things. They’re the original sustainable choice.
