Morning clan, a very last craft update of this year before we go back to Norway 🇳🇴.

As until now, I’ve made 15 of these lovely little sea chest style wooden boxes of different sizes, 30cm, 40cm and 50cm (at the base) and around 14cm wide (internally).

Old Bear woodworking style, redwood and pine, leather and bone, that’s it, nothing else (this sounds more like a Troll whisper).

Few weeks ago, Edi has finished a commission, reproduction of a beautiful tablet woven belt from Viking age grave found in Birka B12. Norwegian wool, hand woven on our in-house made wooden loom.

It is fair to say that the customer was very happy with the finished products. We are looking forward seeing the belt (and the key pendant) complimenting the outfit.

We continue making a selection of more Viking style (smaller) boxes in a good spirit of "How many boxes are too many boxes?"

These will be available at venues we will attend next time. We will have a healthy selection of different sizes. These first 2 (of 5) are 30cm long at the base, 14cm wide and 18cm tall so they are reasonably sized.

Next batch of 5 will be 40cm long at the base, same height and width as these first two.

In the spirit of my Old Bear woodworking style, I completely left out hand forged metalwork and used only leather as hinges and bones as clasps, works a treat and looks the part. Wood is cedar and pine, bones are antler points from Scottish red deer.
