Victorian Villa. Family Longe.

I’ve always been fascinated by the texture of mahogany. It’s one of those patterns that can’t really be used in fragments or small portions. If you decide to go for it, take the whole wall. It should be a bold statement, otherwise there’s no point splashing the money.

In our case, the mahogany panelling also conceals the TV.

The walls are finished in a powder-toned limewash. All original mouldings and ceiling beams have been retained. The room’s height is over four metres.

At first, I specified a much heavier and more decorative chandelier. Later, I removed it. It was taking too much attention away from both the ceiling and the wall panelling. Throughout the design process, I kept reminding myself: quieter, quieter.

In the end, a chandelier by Moooi felt right. Quite contemporary, yet somehow it works perfectly with the period character of the house.

Travertine was another material I used in this project. It’s timeless. Not particularly loud, but so elegant and chic.

The sofa and coffee table will be custom made.

While designing this decking off the primary bedroom, I kept picturing my clients starting their day here.

A cup of coffee, a paper diary, a few quiet moments to gather their thoughts, and perhaps a gentle yoga session overlooking the garden… a peaceful start before the day unfolds.

The garden feels completely different when viewed from above. It opens up in a way that you simply don’t experience from the ground floor.

Beautiful spaces are not just about aesthetics. They can create a sense of tranquillity, helping us reconnect with ourselves, clear our minds, and focus on what truly matters.

A room prepared for its next chapter.

There is something fascinating about witnessing a room at this stage.

The building work is complete. The space is ready. Every design decision has been made, every drawing translated into something tangible. Bespoke furniture is being crafted, wallcoverings are awaiting installation, fabrics are prepared, and every carefully considered detail is making its way towards its final destination.

For months, a room has been at the centre of countless conversations between clients, designers, builders and suppliers. It has quietly absorbed ideas, aspirations, memories and plans for the life that will unfold within it.

Now it waits.

Poised between what it was and what it is about to become.

There is a certain feeling in the air — much like those last few days before a birthday, when you know something special is coming, but haven’t yet seen it.

And perhaps that brief moment of anticipation is one of the most beautiful parts of the entire journey.

THE ART OF CONCEALING COMPLEXITY

The best storage is the storage you don’t notice.

What appears to be a perfectly proportioned dressing room was anything but straightforward.

Sloping ceilings, structural pillars, awkward projections and a challenging layout were all concealed within bespoke cabinetry, creating a calm, balanced space where every centimetre works hard behind the scenes.

A bespoke Alcantara-wrapped island, textured stained oak, Arte wallcoverings, antique brass detailing and a sculptural Terzani chandelier bring warmth, functionality and quiet luxury to the room.

The result is a dressing room that feels effortless, elegant and perfectly organised — exactly as it should.

Watching a set of flat drawings from my design package evolve into a tangible, lived-in space is something I never tire of witnessing. There is something truly remarkable about seeing my ideas take physical form.

While many clients understandably find the construction process stressful, it is where I feel most at home.

Enjoying navigating and managing its complexity, coordinating every moving part and guiding a project from concept to completion.

It remains one of the most fulfilling aspects of the design journey.

Your home should never be something you simply move into…….

It should be something carefully shaped around your life.

In this London project on the Camden Canal, the flat came with generous proportions, yet the hallway felt like a forgotten passage — dark, diffused and disconnected from the rest of the home.

A beautiful home is rarely about just placing furniture into a given layout. It is about rethinking geometry, light, and your daily rituals.

I began not only with storage or practical solutions, but with a question: how to make this space feel like it was truly working for the client.

We decided to open the corridor visually, introducing a Crittall-style door to the adjacent room, allowing a significant amount of natural light to travel deeper into the entrance of the flat.

What was once a tunnel is now becoming a welcoming threshold — calm, intentional, and full of life from the very first step inside.

At the corridor’s core sits a bespoke two-sided cabinetry system, designed to work on both sides of the wall.

On the hallway side, the cabinetry absorbs everyday life — outerwear, shoes, bags, sports equipment, luggage, small essentials — everything that usually disrupts visual calm.

On the opposite side (near the kitchen), it becomes a coffee bar.

The existing aquarium quietly anchors the scheme, adding a deeply personal layer to the design narrative.

Creating a home with a sense of belonging, where every object has intention for the owner, and every space supports daily life, serving you for years, quietly removing friction from everyday life.

When everything has its place and purpose, there is a quiet power in it. And that order naturally extends into the mind as well.
