Is it dusty mushroom? Almost-Farrow-and-Ball-but-not-quite beige? Like, a-sort-of, warm sage but a bit brighter?

Whatever the colour is, showing us a photo on your phone usually isn’t the best way to match it - screens can make colours look warmer, cooler, brighter, darker… basically, a bit hit or miss.

Instead, bring us a sample. Wallpaper, a paint swatch, a bit of fabric, a tile, your gran’s fruit bowl - if it has a colour, we’ll do our best to match it.

If you’re decorating in hot weather, a few adjustments can make a huge difference to your finish as the heat can make paints and adhesives behave very differently. ☀️

A few professional tips:

• Decorate during the coolest parts of the day
• Avoid painting in direct sunlight
• Keep paint tins, trays and tools cool
• Keep lids and trays covered where possible
• Use quality synthetic brushes and rollers in hot weather
• Work in smaller sections

If you’re decorating indoors:

• Keep rooms ventilated
• Use fans to cool the room - but don’t point them directly at freshly painted walls
• Close blinds on sun-facing windows during the hottest part of the day

And if you’re wallpapering… be careful. High temperatures can cause paste to dry too quickly which may make things more challenging.
